Instead of Florida do you guys think we would have had a CFB playoff 5 or 6 years ago?? I think its widely believed that the other power leagues finally came on board with the playoff concept after the Alabama-LSU rematch in 2011. Do you think a similar type thing happening in 06 with OSU-Michigan would have snowballed into a playoff YEARS earlier than what we ended up with?? Im thinking it would have but whats your thoughts??

No because the B1G was one of the ones bellyaching about a playoff. They didnt want it and untilthey came on board it would not happen. It took the SEC getting two in a title game to budge the B1G from its lofty tower.

Thats a true statement. I just wonder if the pressure from the other leagues would have made it happen.

I don't know about a playoff but the BCS would have died because SEC teams would have been left out in back to back years and think the SEC would have pulled completely out at that point. It would have gotten pretty ugly IMO with the fans, the schools and the conference office.

I dont thinks so. SEC was already on board. next team behind both Florida and Mich was LSU. Part of the controversy of 11 was the position of Big 12 champ Ok State and Pac 12 champ Stanford in the rankings.

Oregon won the PAC12 in 2011...

The SEC fans are still mad that we control college football -- despite their cheating winning ways.

LOL, no it wouldn't. SEC didn't play in the BCS title game in '99, '00, '01 & '02. So if the SEC rep had been left out in '06, it wouldn't have mattered either.

I can't seem to find Ohio State's score in the Rose Bowl last year. Maybe you can direct me to that link. And are they on top without a defense AND a quarterback AND their top runningback? Put down the kool-aid. OSU may end up on top, but predicting it now, with all the question marks is just homerism.

You are not getting what I'm saying. I'm not saying an undeserving SEC had to be in if the system works it works what I'm saying is if back to back SEC teams had been left out because of a bias of the system I think at that point the SEC pulls out of the BCS system.

If we were looking at an undefeated Michigan and one loss Ohio State being left out in back to back years I'm sure the B1G would have pulled out of the BCS and rightfully so.

What deserving SEC team was left out in 2005? Was it 11-2 LSU or 10-3 Georgia? Or are you talking out of your ass?

Forgot 2005 wasn't Florida vs Ohio State so it was more of a memory issue.

No, and for the simple reason of contracts.

I think the contracts that enabled the BCS only recently expired. Sure they might have been increased pressure, and maybe the playoff would have come a year or two sooner, but not 6 years sooner.

Oregon won the PAC12 in 2011...

which was another factor in the controversy. Oregon was Pac champs but had 2 losses. Stanford only had 1 going to bowls. Stanoford was 4 in the rankings oregon 5.
