He has the ability to throw a great ball, which is one thing we could never really say with Taylor. I just hope consistency comes with time.
He's just 3 games into being a sophomore. He'll be fine. If he completes one more pass in games 1 and 2, he's a 57% passer right now.
It's more important he manages the game wisely. Make smart plays and lead. That's what generally takes the most time. With Taylor it never really came.
He could gain some good confidence with a win Saturday night. Then he'll have Illinois to get a bit more experience prior to the road trip to Michigan St. He's got good upper classmen support from Abdullah and Bell. If the kid grows quick LTFO.
Oh you don't have to convince me. I've been in his corner from the start. I remember during spring ball (or was it last year? I don't remember) I was watching practice during work and he dropped a beautiful 30 yard pass hitting someone perfectly in stride down the sideline. I know he's got it...and he seems to be the type of player that can be a leader too. He also does work in the film room, so I think he can get the "making smart plays" part down as well.
It's this right here that defenses are gonna have to load the box for (and AA of course). That'll put Bell and Westy in one-on-ones.
If Beck has an ounce of beans in his head, he'd has a reverse to Pierson El in his playbook.
I was thinking...we should put him (Pierson El) in motion on nearly every play. Have him run a fake sweep from the slot spot and just have that be a part of our offense. Obviously give it to him occasionally, but that seems like that would drive defenses nuts, and from there, he can either get the ball, run a route, block, pretty much anything. Maybe I'm thinking too much like an XBox offensive coordinator, but I think that would work.
I see a wingback.
Caution: I saw a wingback in Jamal Turner 2 years ago too, and I couldn't have been more wrong.

It comes down to decision making.
Tommy is head and shoulders above where he was last year in that department. He's making the right reads and he's tucking it when he needs to.
