Coming into Chattanooga on I-24 from the west you got Lookout Mountain to the right, the Tennessee river directly to the left with Signal Mountain just across it.

Just beautiful..........

It's actually pretty deep in some areas. That area there is probably between 50 and 100 feet deep in the channel.
Not too fast though it does have a good current. Loaded with smallmouth, largemouth and some of the biggest kitties you've ever seen. Almost an over abundance of smallmouth.

That portion of the river is considered Nickajack Lake though pretty far upstream. The best fishing is a couple of bends down river.

Sorry I deleted them. I put them on and my wife starts "You think Mike wants you to start posting his picture all over the internet?

So I deleted it for peace. She mights be right too.

One was a spotted. The average is 2-3 pounds around here. We caught those at a creek mouth about 12 feet down. The creeks water is usually a lot warmer than the lake this time of year so you can get them late morning / early afternoon in the warm water on plastic worms.

Like I said though my boat is broke right now so my fishing is even more limited than normal. I need to have it back on the water for crappie and shellcrackers this spring though.

No prob........I at least got ta see 'em :smokin:

Damn they all looked like largemouths to me. The one of the left I couldn't get quite as good of a look at though.

They also looked like they were at least 21 inches a piece.......looked like some big sumbitches.

They was a large and a spotted. We got so many smallies though that it is effecting the rest the population. But they are fun to catch so I don't mind too much. I don't eat bass but I do like crappie when they're biting.

I don't eat bass either..........but smalls are much better eating than larges.

Of course, up here small mouth bass are a delicacy because they basically don't exist anywhere except in the Missouri River...

I didn't know the Missouri had smallies. The only thing we fished the Missouri for when I lived up there was Sturgeon in the spring. You could dig up stink worms on the riverside and use them. The sturgeon loved them. Other than that most fishing was in old sand quarries for me.
