Would you view him with the likes of Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson and Barry Sanders? These three are arguably the greatest ever in college.

I wanna say yes, but there have been some backs that were really good that left early
Peterson in 3 years
748 rushes, 4041 yards, 41 td's
24 receptions, 198 yards, 1 td
Gonna toss this out there Kadeem Carey in three years
716 rushes, 4070 yards, 46 touchdowns
77 receptions, 679 yards, 4 touchdowns
was carey destined for a notch up there?
I was watching 30 for 30 on Bo Jackson. I can see why people who would say no. But that being said, Why not? All three are a freaks of the sports world that rarely come along and I think we all would agree that AD has validated himself as one in a decade athlete. His freshman year he had nearly 2000 yards and never stayed healthy again.
I told anyone who would listen after his freshman year that he was the most talented RB I had ever seen. No one in my lifetime has had the mix of speed and power that AD has. For me it really doesn't matter if he was hurt for 2 years, if anyone has better numbers, more health, more longevity, he's the best college RB I've ever seen, he's the best pro RB I've ever seen.
That was such a stupid, pointless dive into the endzone against Iowa State, completely unnecessary. I'll never forget that play. There was no one even near him. He busted his collarbone after jumping and twisting high into the air to land on his back and then snap! Cost him the second half of that season and he didn't return until the 2007 Fiesta Bowl that season. Dumb move, incredible player. Beastly.
Disagree. Sanders by a landslide IMO. AP is a stud though. Tremendous blend of power and speed, a superstar.

I'm not disagreeing one way or the other but they're both diferent backs as well.
peterson only finished 1 season. In fact I wanna say he missed half of his junior year a few games of his sophmore.
Freshman: 339 carries 1925 yds 5.7 avg 15 td
Sphmore: 221 carries 1104 yds 5 avg 14 td
Junior: 188 carries 1012 yds 5.4 avg 12 tds
If he had stayed healthy with his yearly avg he would have put up another 1455 yards in his career.
As a Lions fan, watching Barry was a treat I'll tell my grandkids about. He's the most elusive back I've ever seen and I felt he was the best until I saw Adrian Peterson. AD is plenty elusive although he may not be as elusive as Barry but he's faster and far more powerful/punishing. To each their own of course but I'd take All Day all day.
carries are about the same bud
freshman 91 rushes, 425 yds 4.7 avg 6tds
sophmore 303 rushes, 1929 yards, 6.4 avg, 23 tds
junior 349 rushes, 1885 yards, 5.4 avg, 19 tds
overall carey had 743 rushes for 4239 yards, 5.7 avg, 48 rushing tds
peterson has 748 rushes for 4041 yards, 5.4 average, 41 tds
the numbers are very very similar, i had careys stats wrong in original post
I was really young when he played at OK State, but I still remember him well from those days and Barry Sanders was the best college and professional player at any position that I've personally ever seen with my two eyes............and it's not close.
