yes, and he hit .227 late and close

Most players don't hit for high average in close-and-late situations, because in those situations the matchups favor pitchers....

David Ortiz' career close and late average is .256
Mike Trout's is .259

yup. but thats not .227.

.250+ is more than respectable in that situation.

Ortiz during the last 5 seasons of his career hit .237 in close and late situations, including a seaosn under .180...would you say he was a joke in those 5 final seasons?

Trout hit .239 in 2017 with RISP...was he a joke in 2017?

so he hit 10 pts higher than harper, STILL with a .180 avg mixed in there?

.239 is RISP, not late and close.

now look at mookie...

in a down year last year, he hit .263 late and close, and hit .344 with 2 outs and RISP.

.355 overall with RISP.

He's younger than Aaron Judge and already has 6 seasons under his belt. Hasn't even reached his prime yet.

And for only playing in 111 games last year, he still put up some pretty big numbers.

I definitely wouldn't call him overhyped.

And as a Braves fan, there's not a hitter in the game I fear more than Bryce Harper.

There's a forum called "Fantasy Baseball" take this Sh*t there! :dhd::suds::D:D

But I would take all those other players over Harper at 4 if I had a pick

"Most over hyped ever"...is that the end of your list, because you'll need 500-600 more to prove that point

I’m not taking sides here but your comment implies there were 500-600 more players as hyped as Harper

Like you said he said “most over hyped” not “worst player by 25”.

I mean Nick Punto didn’t have Harpers stats at 24. But I’d consider Punto much less overhyped considering I think his immediate family even thought he would be bagging groceries

Phil Hughes was more overhyped than Harper. So was Alex Gordon. So was Matt Weiters.

Harper is consistent with the fact that in the right lineup, he is part of a very good contending team. If everyone around him hits like they are replacement level players, yeah ... you spent too much on him. If you need a guy in the 3-4 hole who can produce the core of a solid offense, I think he's in the top half-dozen guys in the game.
If that makes him worth $500 million, can't say. You can market a contending team pretty well. A rebuilding team doesn't need Harper.
