As far as the fans, I do understand the anger but at the same time, there were points where they were outright disrespectful towards the players.

Like week 14, 2008 with an 0-14 record when Dominic Raiola flipped off the fans? And later told some fans on Sporting News Radio...

I think the decision was already made to move to London in the next 5 years. According to the NFL they could have a team there in 5 years. I have Dibs on the Lions going 0-7 and winning their game in London. What a way to stick it to the fan base for their ineptness.
