US ARMY retired /mod.
it look like both scherf and williams could be good players we took our guy
Fair enough... will assemble our teams and then play each other. It'll be interesting to see how you field your 7 WR's and 4 RB's on offense and then 8 DE's and 3 outside LBs on defense when you take the field. You should be pretty good since you took (BP'sA at time of pick, and all). I'll have my 11 on offense and 11 on defense ready to rumble too.The way to build a team is to acquire the best possible players regardless of position
lets go back to the josh doctson debate the'pick was surposed to be'the bama center kelly acocording to sources he was picked so im going to awsome next on scott list was doctson , sojrces had said wr armai cooper was skins top choice that means sherif was skins second choice ranked higher then williams .aslong you get a legit starter in thefirst round tht is all it matters
so i look at it as what combo is better AMARI COOPER,Center KEllEY.VS Doctson, sheriff which combo is better
One minor correction. SM did have Cooper ranked very high but that does not mean he had Scherff 2nd on his board. Being there at 5 didn't mean he was the #2 rated player, reports said he had both Cooper and Fowler ranked ahead of Scherff.
I'm still bummed the Colts grabbed Kelly before our pick, I wanted that guy badly and apparently so did SM. As I said no doubt SM had Scherff rated higher than Williams but I wonder if that would have still been the case had he known he would have immediately switched to guard. Again I'm not knocking Scherff when I say I would have preferred Williams.
To answer your question I'll take Cooper and Kelly over Scherff and Doctson. And I would have done it before Amani showed to be a legit weapon in his rookie season which is very rare for a receiver.

My point,, u need to fill certain holes when opportunity is there. Some great O linemen were taking in round 1 also.. Ogden, Pace, Roaf, Jones selected 3rd, 1st, 8th and 6th overall respectively.... to name just a few. Not trying to be a dick,,, I do see your point as well..... lets just hope Sherff turns out to be in the same class as some I just mentioned for every Skins fan sake.
i think its a combination of both drafting the BPA and drafting for need . i think it depends on value at the spot you are drafting . if value is there to take a need take it , if not take the BPA
I think the pick was made for the intangible effects as much as for talent. The O-line needed a bad arse to set an example. We had what was perceived as a sawft O-line. And a guy like Morgan Moses seemed to need a push. None of us know the effect on Moses of the team picking Scherff, but it could have made the difference. Obviously Moses is a big-time talent, but there have been questions about his intensity. Scherff playing next to him - and missing just 1 snap in his rookie year - had to help and hopefully will continue to help for a decade. They were essentially both rookies last season. This season, we should see continued growth on the right side of the line.
I agree with DGF that the logical choice was clearly Leonard Williams - and it would have taken me less than 2 seconds to pick him, but GMSM is building a team, rather than a collection of talent, so I'm going to trust in Scott on this one.
Hmm, for some reason I have a hankerin for a nice juicy slab o steak.
long wasnt cutting it at RG . the option was put moses at RG or put him back at RT where he has experience . it was a no brainer move to make the o/line better
Right. Moses was the better RT so that is where he played.
ok so what is the issue ? sherf is on the cusp as an all pro guard and moses had more experience at RT
No issue with you but do you remember that a lot of people on here saying that Sherff was a tackle?
and he still could be if needed he played it for about 8 weeks however they feel he is a fixture at RG
Even a year later I still don't see why Dean's point is dismissed. It was clear on draft day that Scherff was a marginal tackle prospect but pretty safe bet to be a good to great guard. So let's say Moses failed in camp and the team was forced to put Scherff there. I think it is clear that he has been a better guard than tackle all along, so now you have the 5th pick in the draft playing his second best position, a position he could have very well been nothing more than average in his first season. Now how does that pick look? Clearly Moses made the pick look better by allowing Scherff to slide to his better position.
Thank You for seeing the point. These guys just don't understand.
