I'm seriously done.

This team and their F'ing mediocrity. I can't afford to care anymore.

I don't know why today is the day that finally brought it out of me, but I'm done. Just done and done

Take a deep breath Rich.
They lost to a better team, that's all.
Decent showing against a better team.

That's what I'm sick of. Teams being better than us. I mean, I'm over the loss now and moving onto the next one.

... but this team is consistently just mediocre to decent. I'm just sick of it. This anger has very little to do with this season. BTW

I'm just so damn pissed off that we had a freaking 12 SEASON TIME FRAME with that defense, and we missed the damn boat. All we had to do was muster up an NFL offense that could just be consistent enough to not beat itself. We never could do it. Now, it's back to square one. We waited to long, and the offense has surpassed the defense. lol... just short of really having a shot at something special.

I guess what I'm trying to say is... FUCK Jerry Angelo.

holy cow dude grab a pill just dont make it a viagra lol. You have to take some bad with the good. Last year the D carried us because the O couldn't get it done but we are "a year older" and it shows. Yes we have some kids ready to take the next step but clearly that step is next year. We have the makings of a solid o-line very good WR's and a top flight running back. clearly next draft there has to be a comittment to the D-line and possibly a DB.Having said all that this season is not a lost cause. If the O can start clicking on a regular basis we can still have a decent shot

As mentioned above, my anger isn't directed at this team or this season. It's the fact that we missed a TWELVE YEAR TIME FRAME to build just a decent offense that could be consistent, and win with our defense. Now it's back to square one. THAT'S what pisses me off.

Why would I take a "chill pill" when we're five weeks into the season, and I'm already being told to "wait until next year".

This team doesn't have a next year. Tillman, Jennings, Briggs, Melton, Gould, Cutler, Hester are amongst the free agents, and Peppers might be gone as well. Either way, he is over the hill. Tillman and Briggs are near the end of their days. We're going to have to start all over on defense next year. It might be a while before we see the defense back in shape. And I'm sorry, I love Cutler, and he's very capable of going a LONG way with a great defense. However, if he's forced to carry this team. I don't think he's that kind of a QB.

This team is back into rebuilding mode for next season on the defensive side of the ball.

Also, 3-2 with two tough losses to good teams hardly means the end of your season. In all likelihood, we'll be 5-2 heading into the bye in two weeks. Still at least sharing a hold of first place. So don't give me this "next year" shit.

Well there you go then. Short and sweet.
That's all you had to say, -we can all agree on that.

Don't forget about pie-in-the-sky Lovie too!

Yes.
Next year will be about rebuilding our currently aging-and-in-a-contract-year defense.

I am optimistic for the long term under Trestman though, and I don't think we'll have to wait twelve years to see if I'm right.

10-6 and a playoff bid would be an overachieving success for a team with an entirely overhauled coaching staff, and a lot of new pieces on the O.

9-7 would be a very good "first year".

The arrow looks to be pointing up, from where I stand.

Fuck Jerry Angelo and Lovie Smith. Dickwads.

like I said at 3-2 it still isn't about next year............yet, And like you pointed out due to free agency and age there will bealot of new faces here next year but unlike other sports this is the nfl and we wont have to wait5 years for the D to develop. you already have bostic and greene in place learning now to make the LB a strength next year. If we are to assume that peppers and briggs are gone next year that is nearly 30 million in cap freed up and I am sure we can come up with some good players with that kind of money to work with. Melton coming off an injury could be a godsend because he is now not going to cost 10 million to bring back. All in all we are going to have a ton of money to work with and can get a lot younger in the process. So the "shit" I am giving you is not doom and gloom but rather something we need to be very good for longer than just 1 year

I agree. A 10 win season and a playoff bid would be a success in Trestman's first year.

I just really thought this defense wouldn't drop off this season. Which is why I thought this team really had a shot this year, if we could get the offense going. I never would have guessed the front four would be the reason either.

If somehow we can muster a pass rush, and make this a decent defense... I still think we have a shot at the division. It's not unthinkable that this defense can be turned around.

The offense will continue to progress. I love how Jeffery looks, and hopefully a 10 day week can help Bennett heal up his knee. There were some positives to take away from the New Orleans game.

I'm done venting about the team. I've now accepted it for what it is. I'm still hopeful for this season, and I won't be such a downer anymore.

I think we have a good shot at the division. I think we are better than we were last year and also I don't think Green Bay is as good as they used to be. Their offense just doesn't scare you like it used to.

We should make the playoffs either way because a lot of the NFC is not going to get to 8 wins.

It is a surprise that the D is suddenly a liability, but it is not a surprise the the window is slamming shut on the D side of the ball.
I figured this year will be a rebuild of the O, next year a rebuild of the D.
If the O, as a new unit, overachieves this year, then it just offsets the D being in the crapper.

Either way, I didn't figure on a complete team this year, or next.
Trestman's third year here is where I was looking ahead to.

Any level of success for this season and next, is just a building block to the long term success that I am looking for. I suppose it is possible to have it all together next year, or as this year progresses, but I am patiently happy with improving the O this year, and rebuilding a D next year. Anything more than that is gravy to me.

The back 7 on D seem fine to me...it's the front four that are not getting it done.

I don't care how much you excel in coverage, no pressure from the front four, and receivers WILL get open. You give an NFL QB time and he will pick secondaries apart. ANY QB, and ANY secondary.
