But how could you possibly not be happy with what you've seen the last 10 days? An 8-2 record, Hernandez continues to get on base, Franco continues to hit and play good defense, Nola and Morgan have been excellent, Hamels threw a no-hitter in the most exciting game of the year, we dumped payroll AND got a prospect back for Papelbon, and we got a pretty damn decent haul for Hamels.

Nick Williams projects to have a 6.2 WAR through his age 28 season, which would have placed him 43rd on KATOH's prospect preseason list. Alfaro finally provides us a catcher duo with Knapp to get excited over. I think Harrison is the sleeper in the Hamels deal. He's under control until 2017, and it's a fairly cheap contract. Let's not forget that from 2011-2012 he had back-to-back 3+ WAR seasons. At the very least, he should be able to eat some innings provided he stays healthy.

Let's not forget that we also will more than likely have the top pick next year. It finally feels like this organization is going in the right direction.

Ok but the Phillies can't draft.

And those prospects might all suck.

Except for Crawford, Nola, Singleton, Santana, d'Arnaud, Giles, Perkins, etc.

91.1 IP 11.82 K/9 1.48 ERA 2.68 xFIP 2.7 WAR

But that's not the point. The point is the Phillies have had very successful drafts in the last 3-7 years. But go ahead and keep whining because it seems like you are very good at it.

2 guys in 7 years? At that rate we'll be able to trade Crawford, Franco and Nola by the time we draft some more decent prospects. Rosters are 25 deep.

Two guys? Trevor May, Vance Worley, Jon Singleton, David Buchanan, Cody Asche, Adam Morgan, Ken Giles, and Aaron Nola were all drafted in the last seven years and have had some sort of success on a Major League team. And it's way too early to judge the 2012-2015 draft. Another three or four players could easily be added to that list in the years to come.

What the hell has that list of names done for us? Which of those guys is a key piece on a world series time (past, present or future)

We don't even know if Giles is anything more than a reliever. And he doesn't even throw the same he did when they drafted him. He relearned it all in the minors (OMG they actually might have developed somebody down there on the farm!)

hey einstein.. while you were jerking off to your phils posters and enjoying the wagon ride.. the phils draft needs usually took a back seat. they lost several first rounders and they were picking way back for a while. as soon as they crept up, they were able to take crawford and nola.

they also traded away a decent chunk of their talent for pieces to make championship runs. one exception, dom brown, was simply a failure that happens all too often with every team. he was able to climb all the way up the list to the #3 overall prospect in baseball at one point.

Isn't that rich. The self-proclaimed einstein calling someone else an einstein.
