Funny how things can change drastically in a matter of a few hours. The morning of the Michigan game it was quite apparent that Doc would get a chance to work with Strickland and recruit to the new facilities and arena..........but even after the Ohio State losses, the loss to Wake Forest, the losses to Michigan State and Wisconsin at home...........the game against Michigan was one of the worst that Sadler has ever had.

I didn't say anything right after the game, because I was still too deflated from it, but our team did not care one bit that they were playing the #22 team in the country the other night at their home court. It was a team who had given up completely...........they have given up on Doc.

Not many coaches make it another season after their team has blatantly given up and laid over at home in a big game. I now give Doc a 30% chance of making it to next year. Many of us Nebrasketball followers thought we would have given Michigan a run for their money.........but instead we were completely blown out............trailed by 26 at one point.

Doc will likely be shown the door, but I still don't think Strickland will be hired. Even after the Erstad hiring, a Strickland hire would be a complete shock hire. Either way, whoever is coaching the team next year, I will still be the biggest Husker basketball fan in the world en sech :cool2:

For the record though, I really hope Tom Osborne does the right thing and holds on to Doc.

Do we really have a big enough basketball fanbase anyways? Why are we going to go and pay this guy $67,000 a month through the end of his contract just so we can get another coach?

Nobody ever cared about basketball in the first place..........I just think it's funny how people who don't even follow them try to weigh in and call for the guy's head. If you don't give a shit, then shut your mouth! If you don't contribute in any way, shape or form as a fan towards the basketball program, then shut your mouth! You've got other things to be concerned about, so shut your mouth!

Seriously.........save the money. Put it towards what REALLY matters..........football.

We've already spent enough on facilities for a program that nobody cares about. No need to go and waste millions more just to please people who don't even give a shit anyways.

Please the people like me who want to keep him because I actually dedicate myself as a fan dadburnit!

That's just him being a smart coach.....

We don't have the men to go running down the court and trying to throw alley-oop dunks every possession like Kansas, Ohio State, etc etc...

So we try to take our offensive possessions right now and burn as much clock as we can.........because you get more tired on defense than you do on offense. And our very very average roster was without 3 of its biggest assets for almost the entire season.

Gotta find a way to get it done somehow. There is no way in hell we could come down and shoot the ball with 20 seconds left on the shot clock and stand a chance of staying in a game with anyone this year.

One other thing, give the guy an ultimatum BEFORE the season starts........not 75% of the way through a season when his players are giving up. No coach can rally a team who is this far down and is without their 2 bigs down low.

But a new season always brings a different mindset to the players........and everyone starts believing again that they can win. Give him the ultimatum at the beginning of next season, and see if he can handle it.

Nebraska was ranked dead last in BCS schools for quality of basketball facilities and playing arena in 2009. The overwhelming feedback from recruits was that they didn't care to be a part of that.......which is why the facilities have now been built.

We were one of the only major schools in the country practicing on the same court that we play games on :L..........cutting the court in half and sharing it with the girls every day for practice :L

I mean that is high school stuff right there. It's just impossible to recruit to that, especially when you've never been good before in the history of the program.

I will say it, UTEP was a fluke, if he can't get it going at NU in comparison then what? I don't follow cfb as Ive stated, I do watch NBA, Mavs not being a part of 1217, anyway the history behind Kenny I could give 2 shits about, if he isn't producing then it's his own damn fault, his players, his team. Give me some solid reasons why I wouldn't fire his ass if I were his boss.

I don't care one way or the other what happens to Doc because basketball as a sport is near the bottom of my list. Keep him, get rid of him, whatever. But like I said in a different thread, I would let him go after the season. Either way, I won't be watching next year anyway.

Well, UTEP basketball is honestly in a much better position than is Nebrasketball.

1) They have 15 NCAA tourney appearances.

2) They are the only University from the state of Texas to ever win a National Championship.

3) They are in the state of Texas making recruiting a lot easier.

4) They have had far better facilities than Nebraska up until this year.

5) They just have a history of winning basketball games and conference championships.

5 reasons more than I knew previously about UTEP, but were talking Doc, post, 2 year stint in TX being the fulcrum. If I were a company, as it is, and my record was as such, I would be sent on to the house right now. I don't see this as any different, unless Ken is better than all other less humans in this fucking day and age, as he is not, then otherwise chin up or get the fuck on

Yea, I understand where you're coming from. But honestly only 1 coach was ever successful here at Nebraska and that was Danny Nee......and it was only for about 2 years that he was successful.

Otherwise it's much of the same that we're currently seeing..........and in my opinion it's simply because we've never been able to recruit here at Nebraska.

I've said it before and I'll say it again..........take 5 guys off of Duke's bench and give them to Doc..........watch Nebraska go to the Sweet 16.

I'm mostly ignorant talking about NU BB circumstances, more so about Nee, just looking at it from a business standpoint. Like or ambition has little to do with anything unfortunately these days. So anyway, GBR!

Or give Doc Texas' 5 starters and watch him take them to the Final 4.

It's amazing how Nebraska beat #2 Texas last season, when Texas had two "5-stars" and three "4-stars" out on the court in comparison to Nebraska's one "3-star," three "0-stars," and one previous water boy for the LA Clippers.
