Hamels threw 44 pitches in an intra squad game recently. The team wants him to have at least 6 starts in the minors. He will be back with the Phillies in early May if his arm holds up.

None of this would matter if Dave $$$Montgomery would have ponied up for Tanaka. What would that have cost him, 7, maybe $8 Million a year?

I would say it's the "norm" for the first two weeks of the season. And given the varying reports for Hamels' return, it is worrisome that our next best option is Jeff Manship, especially when the rotation already has Hernandez and Kendrick in it.

I think we will see Manship before Hamels. I think Hamels returns early next month.
