Dede Westbrook is not someone I would champion at all and Hurns was in there for 13 games last season. Losing Robinson is definitely a blow but lets not act like he was playing with scrubs with Hurns and Lee.

Still, when the Jags were having important moments in the playoffs coming down to Dede Westbrook having to beat Gilmore one on one then...yeah, not all Bortles.

And Cole is someone that came on strong, and word is they expect him to be a part of the rotation moving forward

1-Robinson
2-Hurns
3-Lee
4-Westbrook
5-Cole

Going into the season.

Bortles made do with mostly just his #3 and #5.

Which QBs had it worse than that? None. Maybe Cousins if you consider the drop off from the previous season. But Bortles had no help and didn't even get a Chris Thompson type weapon for half the year.

Mitch Trubinsky would have given both his nuts for that last season

Kendall Wright was his leading WR

Hurns was hurt most of the year. Look at some of those games he did not play all the snaps.

No continuity from year to year. Very hard to develop that way.

Thats Fair, and I think a great roster can do worse than Bortles

But if Im a Jags fan, I have some very real concerns that my great roster is going to be winning a Lombardi ever with Bortles

Keep speaking nonsense on this topic.

When Maclin was in and out of the lineup did that help the Chiefs?
Imo..

It really hurt the Chiefs when he got injured in 2015.
In 2016, it barely affected the Chiefs at all

The Bears are a near equivalent with how decimated the WR corps became. How'd that passing game fair???????

I am not really rewriting anything. Just pushing back on a nonsense cliche that has little bearing on reality or has a very limited scope.
The Chiefs passing game was a piece of shit when they expected to have Maclin and didn't. But you say Tyreek Hill running around and returning punts changed that. Complete garbage.

I do think eaglesnut has a point with the Jags. I don't think Bortles supporting cast around him was as good as some of the other super bowl contenders. Even though the Jags could've and maybe should've beaten the Pats, at no time did I think that the Jags had the better team. Patriots had two key injuries, as well, and you could argue that the Pats were actually more banged up than the Jaguars.

I just wouldn't be shocked at all if Bortles didn't improve next year even with Robinson and Hurns but Lee leaving in FA.

Alex smith threw 15 tds in 15 games. The passing game was complete shit without maclin. Tyreek Hill saved the overall team with big plays. The passing game was shit.

Despite the mess of a situation the passing game was in personnel wise, Bortles still lowered his sacks down to 24 and his interceptions to 13. That's an improvement on a per dropback basis as well.

Continued improvement with his main weapon back should be expected. He's 25, and came into the league young. He's only 8 months older than Carson Wentz. His best play was at the end of the year to boot.

Thats actually pretty close to 'median' Alex Smith.

Alex Smith has averaged 204 passing yards a game in his career and had 233 a game that year. He has 183 TDS in 156 games.

Look at the years on either side of it. More interceptions. Less touchdowns. Even had less rushing yards. The whole thing was a disaster. He did have more comebacks though, because they couldn't score consistently in the air.

Losing a #1 hurts an offense, some more than others. I didn't think that was news.:noidea:

The Bears receivers were as bad as it gets.

Shit, wasn't Inman the #1 after they traded for him?

That's gotta be their top priority this offseason.

Their passing DVOA was 10th. If it was shit, it isn't reflected by the field. Look what Maclin did with Baltimore. He's not an unstoppable force by any means at this point...
