Edisto, you getting any of them smaller shad? Bait is getting hard to come by in my area. Had to drive 50 miles up to Yankton SD yesterday to find chubs.

Might as well stay up there for the day and make a fishing trip out of it.

Over on the Nebraska side down below the damn is some good fishing. You just have to deal with snagging a couple spoonbills every time you go out.

Don't take anything less than heavy action over there or you'll end up snapping your rod in half. A couple years ago when I was still living back there I used to stand down there and pull in Pike after Pike. Fun times I tell ye.

I had a medium-heavy rod for Northern when I first went up there......

Then I snagged a spoonbill and I watched my very expensive rod snap right in half like nothing.

Caught two nice blue cats this morning. Headed out to try and catch some trout and flounder or maybe a spottail or two now. Fish, grits, and hushpuppies for supper.

Oh man. I feel for ya brother. It's my passion, my joy, my piece of mind. If I'm not working or doing something around the house for the wife or kids, I'm fishin or at least I'm on the water. Somewhere. I don't care if it's just sittin on a dock, I gotta get my fishin (water) time in there to maintain my sanity.

Oh yea, that is the Edisto river. The longest free flowing, black water river in the US of A.

edit: I stand corrected (after googling it), the longest in North America.

Went fishing with a couple buddies this weekend and I bet between the 4 of us we caught close to 100 fish. Mostly bass, with a few crappie and about a dozen nice-sized catfish. Sure beats sitting at home all weekend with a honey-do list!!!
