Them some funny looking catfish....

They ate a lot like a catfish, believe it or not. I filleted them, then cut the fillets into bite size chunks, seasoned with salt and pepper, tossed them in the cornmeal, and fried em in the cast iron. Served with grits. TASTY!!

:hungry:

Shad roe anyone? The shad start running about this time of the year around here. I need to get out there and try to catch a few. The fish itself is ok, gamey actually, but the roe is good freakin eatin'. Normally I get the roe for eatin and cut the fish up for bait and throw it in the freezer until I go catfishin or shark fishin.

I could use about fifty pounds of shad. Wanna send some up this way? I'll fillet them up and such. It's almost catfish season and shad is the stuff dreams are made of.

These are 2-6 lb fish, not the smaller baitfish. If I catch any, I'll throw them in the freezer and send em to ya though.

I wish I would had my camera with me today. Despite being nasty out, 50 degrees and raining, I caught a limit, 30 crappie, and my friend caught 20. We had a 5 gallon bucket slap full. Cold and wet but it was a good day on the water.

I'd like to catch some slab crappie, but the little lake I fish in just doesn't support them yet. All the crappie are about the same size that you see in the pics. I need to get my butt up to Santee Cooper where the slabs are.

I'd call 2lbs or better a monster crappie. And when you're using ultra light equipment it is a ball.
