My brother and I caught 30 today. OO would be happy to know that we released them all though. It was 4 pm and I didn't feel like cleaning fish in the dark.

I usually just release all the fish I catch

that's also why I don't shoot many deer either (that deer in the other thread was my first )

we just never felt like cleaning the damn things

I release more than I keep by a landslide.

But I'll keep em now and then. The pike above, you don't have much choice but to keep em. You won't get your hook and steal leader back unless ya knock em out. They'll get a finger, before you'll get yer gear.

I have to drive about 200 miles if I want good fishing. I can drive 40 miles and wet a hook all day and get nothing though.

shit.

I walk to where I caught that pike.

You can't drive 20 miles in any direction without running into some body of water, here.

same here. The little 40-50 acre lake/pond I fish is about 10 minutes from the house. My brother Lives there now. It was my grandmother's place and I've been fishing it for about 15 or 16 years now. If I go another 5 minutes, I'm at the Edisto river. Beautiful, black water river with great fishing. There are hundreds of "sand mining" ponds around here which is what my brothers pond is. When they finish mining the sand they flood it and stock it. And I live in the middle of sand mining heaven, so they are everywhere. For bigger lakes I have to drive about an hour to the Santee-Cooper Lakes (110,000 acres) or about 2 hours up to my Dad's place on Lake Murray (55-60,000) acre lake. Then there is the ocean and intercoastal waterways about 45 minutes away.

When I lived in Oklahoma or visited there when I was young I could fish farm ponds all day and bring back stringers full of bass. Farm ponds in west Kansas tend to be mud holes at best and are usually dry by August.

All the pics of my fish have disappeared. I'm gonna have to repost them. My project for the night.
