Nice. You're going to have to let me know where ya'll are at, unless it's a secret spot. I need to get my boat in the water here soon.

Talk about tough fishing, the water temp sat below 55 all weekend so active fish was not the case!

Fished wando river, coal tips, some crazy rocks out in deeper water forget what they call that spot. Sunday fished edisto river channels caught a lot of string ray and few reds.

Bad weekend of fishing is at least a great time on the water.

EdistoTiger we welcome pro fisherman!

I hit the river for the first time this year. Out for about 5 hours. It was slow going, but I caught a personal best Channel cat, weighing 16 pounds. Missed another run with a rookie mistake while setting the hook. Man I was pissed.

Still, a personal best beats work every time, hands down.

Nice! Good eatin' right there.

Went back into the river. Made a promise to a buddy after he died that the first fish of the season goes back in. Goes for ice season and catfish season.

Cool. I throw back way more than I keep. I'm going today around 1 to try and catch some more crappie. I'll be keeping them today.

Edisto, you getting any of them smaller shad? Bait is getting hard to come by in my area. Had to drive 50 miles up to Yankton SD yesterday to find chubs.

Nah. The run is over. They usually run up river here from late Feb to the end of March. I never got the little boat (8 hp) up and running and I missed it.

Turkey season opened 1 May here and I got a jake Saturday morning and had him for dinner Saturday night. I dressed and plucked it and the wife cooked it up while I went out fishing for the first time of the year Saturday Afternoon.

We hit the St. Lawrence river at about 1pm hoping to get into the pearch but couldn't find them. The water is too cold so they are still deep and haven't moved into the shallows for spawn.

But we did get into a mess of bullhead which is not bad eating in the spring either. Not a bad weekend for the first one of the season.

Update....Last night after work I went out to the same blind that I shot the Turkey out of. This blind sits next to a pond I've been digging the last couple of years.

I couldn't believe the wood ducks. Had to be 10 - 15 at one time....along with a couple of mallards too.

But the extra cool thing was a hen turkey came out between 6:30pm and hung around picking at the field for about a half hour. She disappeared as quickly as she showed up. But man...what a night for sitting. I didn't shoot a thing, but had a very nice sit on an exceptional evening.
