I get what you are saying, but Houston and UCLA aren’t also rans historically and the games are scheduled years in advance. I agree with your point though, OU schedules too tough for the current system.
Yeah its always a crap shoot but there are teams you can be fairly confident in them being good every year.

UCLA wasn’t supposed to turn to hot doo doo. It happens and Oklahoma schedules at least one P5 team most every year.

Yeah im not indicting your intent. If anything OU schedules too hard OOC on the regular. My OP is about this misplaced notion that great OOC games help your team. They dont. Theyre fun for US as fans but they simply have a very minimal positive impact compared to the risk you take of a loss. UGA and Oregon this year are perfect examples. One won a big ooc game and literally is no better off than they wouldve been by not playing it. The other lost and now has a zero percent shot instead of a 50% shot

Again, if Oregon scheduled Wyoming instead and still lost to Az State they would not be getting in over Oklahoma or Baylor even.

Thats just your opinion man. What we know for sure is theyre not getting in with 2 losses but theres mo reason to think an Oregon team thats 12-1 with 2 ranked wins ( including a fresh drubbing of a top 5 team ) and a P12 title wouldnt have a shot. All you have to do is think theyd have a better than zero percent chance to see what im saying in the OP is right

They’d have a shot but it wouldn’t be a 50/50 shot. If they beat Auburn and then drub Utah last night they’re in over Oklahoma or Baylor without question.

They didnt beat Auburn though. Thats the point.

And my point is if they had it would’ve propelled them above the rest of the field. So your argument that the benefit is negligible is incorrect.

Can anyone here give 1 example of a 1 loss team with a grear ooc win getting in the playoff ahead of a 1 loss team without a great ooc win? Just one example is all thats needed . Because i can give you multiples of teams missing the playoffs because they lost great ooc games

Sometimes it helps you and sometimes it hurts you. I would rather have the tough non conference game because if you win it can help you get in.

OU in 2017 got in while Wisconsin did not. OU beat tOSU, while Wisconsin’s OOC was weak.

Ohio St got in as a non conference champion several years back because they beat OU. Even Urban Meyer said we probably don't get in without that OU win.

Wisky didnt win the B10 though. Im speaking to "all things equal but ooc" example like wed have this year if Oregon was 12-1

Sample size is way too small to be definitive. Ohio state absolutely got in despite not winning their conference in 2016 because of their win at Oklahoma.
