He assumed that job right after the nuke level sanctions hit that program like a ton of bricks. I'm going to accept the very difficult situation he was put in as a major factor to not heavily weigh that part of his resume when looking at the total picture. PSU fans can go F themselves considering they still worship Paterno like a god and last thing they should be doing is ragging those that put their careers and reps on the line to work for that apocalyptic trainwreck during that time period.
Haven't seen anyone up here saying they weren't going to give him a chance. You know what I'm still taking the stance wait and see.
Everyone bitched and moaned about Smith, ( Beavers averaged 31.5 points this season and ranked 49th)
Hamdon was also used as an excuse as well.
That's two OC's under CP that wasn't allowed to think outside the box. Lake has said it time and time again, " we are going to attack" and I think this guy could very easily do that when his HC isn't handcuffing the guy.

One thing is for sure, he's in a different situation here. Lake is a defensive guy on a first year HC track. He's going to have as much input as is possible without being a HC himself.
I really don't think the offense could get more bland and less adaptive than it was last year. What's the ceiling? Not sure.
