Or at least the highest I have seen them in a long time :D

With the Nebraska basketball team's last win (77-46 victory), they are now 11-2 and slide up to #37 in the overall rankings.

Nebraska is now #1 in the nation on defense at allowing 2-point field goals............#2 in the nation on defense at allowing any field goals at all............AND the #7 ranked defense in the country.

Yea yea I know, we've only played a handful of decent teams thus far...........but the way we play defense, we are going to be able to compete in the Big 12. Much of our defensive success is due to Doc's scheme and also the fact that we are the 4th tallest team in the country.

We are now projected to finish 10-6 in the conference and #4 overall (in the conference) by the kenpom ratings! That is kinda ridiculous, but it is fun for me to entertain the idea :D

I see the RPI predicts we will finish 9-7 conference play..........that would get us in the tourney as well. I'd take 8-8 even.

Huskers will roll through the Big XII on the way out!

LOL........I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not, but I do have high hopes that we can win half of our games, and that would be a huge feat considering the Big 12 is arguably one of the strongest conferences this year

we should be able to do better than last year, and I am mildly optimistic about the season.

I know one thing, the way the guys are talking this year is unlike anything I ever remember. They believe they are good for once, and they are confident that they can play with anyone.

A lot of times confidence is the missing link with a team like this that doesn't have a bunch of all-stars on the team........look at Butler last year. They didn't have all-stars on that team and they came up 2 points short of winning the National Championship. That team was loaded with confidence though

From what I have been able to catch now and then... we appear to get some valued rest time for starters because of our bench...

Not sure how strong our bench is, but must be OK to rest our guys as much as they have been able to (so far)!

This is 100% accurate........we rank #5 in the nation at bench minutes. Our bench actually just outscored North Dakota's bench (yea they're bad :D) last night 44-4.

We are very very deep due to the amount of time all the youngsters got last season.

LOL @ me being a Nebraska basketball stat nerd

New facility will affect us how you guys think?

Remember; there will be no beer... which I understand the reasons, but as money hungry as eveyone is, I am a little surprised that this thought process has not been subject to a little more review...

I think the new facility is going to finally put Nebraska on the map as a basketball program.......and I think if Doc could put together a successful season this year (which was unexpected before the season started) then it would REALLY jumpstart the process.

There is no doubt right now that Nebraska is winning games off of 100% heart and effort. We really haven't had a "sharp-shooter" since Cary Cochran back in 2000. We are getting some good athletes, but we aren't really getting fundamentally sound basketball players as recruits right now...........as much as I love the guys on our team and it pains me to say it, it is the truth. They achieve their success through hard work.

Now, it is worth noting that I am a homer :D

It's worth noting that Nebraska Basketball is still the same atrocity it's been for years.

Heck, I was thinking Eric Piatkowski or Tyron Lue days... and even they did not go on to be great players in the NBA....

Exactly......we just have never had standout recruits. Erick Strickland went on to the NBA and averaged 7 or 8 points per game.........but he played for Bellevue West in Omaha, so it wasn't like we had to go through a bunch of work to recruit him.

Nebraska does as expected and moves to 12-2. As BRS said, this Saturday Big 12 play starts. We get Iowa State at home to start conference play......and it is a must win to get things started off on the right foot.

GO BIG RED!
