Here are Oladipo's numbers:

Last Year:

16.0 PPG, 4.8 Reb, 3.9 Ast, 1.6 Stl, .8 BLk

This year:

17.3 PPG, 4.3 REb, 3.0 Ast, 1.0 STl, .4 Blk

Again, if we are just looking at numbers, which I believe you are, I just can't comprehend how he could have been a "huge disappointment" last year, and be one of the "top 7 surprises" this year. I think just about everybody should have expected those numbers or better given that 3 of OKC's top 4 scorers from last year are playing elsewhere.

Maybe he is surprised that Dipo is still as much of a disappointment this year as he was last year? :noidea:

I get that not everyone is going to like the same players as I am - But dude, You've got to stop focusing so much on Durant when evaluating Oladipo. He was by no means brought in to replace Durant. He was brought in to provide a third playmaker behind Durant and Westbrook, something I'd say was a smart thing to do after their offense stagnated those last three games of the conference finals. If Dion Waiters was considered your "third playmaker" - That's not really a good recipe for a title, wouldn't you say?

Oladipo was not brought in to replace Durant - He was brought in to replace Waiters. When Durant left OKC about 10 days after the trade, they were forced to change their outlook completely.

If Mason Plumlee was able to make my list for improvement in a single statistical category (assists), then so should Oladipo (threes). I'd even argue that Oladipo is more deserving than Plumlee since OKC has a better record than the Blazers.

Probably not the others, but I would give Oladipo the edge over Wiggins and Booker for All-Star consideration simply due to team record.

Since when does all star consideration have anything to do with team record. It's about fan favourites and Oladipo doesn't stand a chance.

Umm all the time when it comes to selecting reserves since the coaches select the reserves.....not the fans

And not a single coach is going to pick Oladipo over Wiggins or Booker

If you say so wiener tucker.

None of them are going to make it, though. Just pointing out I personally give the edge to Oladipo based on team record alone.

That's fine if you think that. I'm not exactly disagreeing you but point was the reserves doesn't have anything to do with the fans. Coaches select the reserves and they tend to usually go with the players on teams with a winning record

Three-point percentages to date:

Oladipo - 39.5
Devin Booker - 33.3

And that was supposed to be Booker's big strength and Oladipo's big weakness.:L

Now compare the other stats

Why?

I don't have to do anything you tell me, but if you want to compare other stats no one is stopping you. Three-pointers and wins is enough for me, though.

And that's why you're not a GM or anyone else of influence in the NBA

Well the fact that I'm 28 is probably reason #1 for this wouldn't you say? I'm quite honored you'd include me in this same sentence, though...

I'm willing to bet the words "You" and "no influence" appear in day to day sentences a lot for you.

Who is focused on Durant? You have talked about him way more than me in this thread. I made 1 comment about Replacing the offensive voids and you make assumptions. Thing is, they literally lost 50 points per game. When teams lose production, the next man steps up. Oladipo was never going to match KD's production because he is not nearly as good. That isn't a knock, it is fact. My point was that there is a ton of offensive production available on that team, so most figured Oladipo would get a large piece of it.

Who is OKC's second playmaker this year? It is and will always be oladipo. Nobody else on that roster has the ability to do that. Adams is a talented player, but not someone they will run offense through. Kanter could be that, but he can't play but so many minutes with Adams. Their other wings are either specialists of defensive stoppers with limited offensive games.

In other words, it isn't about Durant at all. Anyone who looked at OKC's roster preseason should have expected massive numbers from Westbrook, secondary production from Oladipo, big man stats for Adams and scraps for everyone else. Westbrook has held up his end and then some, but as I said before, Oladipo is a lot closer to a disappointment than a surprise even though his 3 point percentage has improved.

Gotta disagree. Coaches are going to take the best player (or their own guy) regardless of team record.

YOU were the first person in this thread to bring up Durant in this thread, so I countered. But I won't lie that you do have a point. If one in fact take the frontrunning approach and compare Oladipo's production to that of Durant, he will always be viewed as a disappointment no matter what he does.
