Question for @WiggyRuss

You are managing a team in NBA redraft.

It is pick 65 and Bam, Larry Nance Jr. and TT are still available. You need a big man.

Who you taking?

Why you defending Wiggy when clearly TLance was responding to where Wiggy wouldn't have him ranked in his top 70. SEVENTY.

We all know Wiggy is biased against the Heat, as am I. We need to be able to put that aside, though. It's not farfetched to think Bam may have already peaked in the pace and space era.

My #38 ranking of him was mostly based on his all-star appearance.

Won't try to turn this into a Harden vs. Curry thread, so I'll keep it to myself. Not a huge issue, but I still wouldn't put Harden above Curry. We can discuss this later if you want, but no big deal.

Even with some uncertainty around KD's return, I wouldn't put Harden above him or AD. Harden for me fits in about the 6-8 range or so.

I actually have no real issues until we get into the 30's range. The top 30 to me have some spots where I think a player might be a spot or two higher or lower but nothing egregious.

Bam is ranked too low if you have Vucevic at 34. He's better than Vucevic and Sabonis, both of whom I like as players.

There's no way Schroeder should be ranked above his own teammate Shai. Just no way.

IMO, Fox, Bledsoe and Schroeder shouldn't have made this list. There are plenty of other players that are very talented and will have better years than them next year. John Wall will for sure be a top 50 player next year. John Collins and Shai should both be on here. I mean in all fairness I'd probably have all three of the guys I just mentioned on the list above Draymond.

Overall very solid list, but disagree from about 34 on in a lot of spots.

I just had to reward Schroder for the year he was having. Always a fan of his game. SGA is the better guy for the future, but Schroder is more efficient in the present.

Yeah, I get it, but you said this list is not a life time achievement award, it's your predictions for next year. You can't say that then make exceptions on your own list.

38 is fair, absolutely, but I personally think Bam is pretty close with Sabonis. Vucevic is below them. I would have Bam above Sabonis because I like his defensive abilities more. He guards better in space than either Sabonis or Vucevic that is paramount to success in today's game. Being able to guard in space is more important than being able to hit an occassional three at below average success.

I didn't know this was a question that needed discussed LOL

Definitely Bam. The only slight discussion would be the comparison to Nance.
Bam is the better scorer.
Bam is a little better rebounder.
Bam is the better defender, wouldn't say by a large margin though.
Bam is the better passer.

Only thing Nance does have on him is his outside shooting. I know Bam isn't that type of player but in this league you need to have some kind of outside shot to expand your game, even if you are a big. That should be his next goal. Definitely a top 50 player though so 65 would be a bargain.

No one is a perfect fit on a bad team
I mean, he's not gonna make a bad a team a good one (like Lebron) but so far all we know is when he is surrounded by stars/HOFers he is useful. Too small a sample size to call him useless, I guess, on a bad team. But he was.

Based off last years play, he'd be lucky if he was top 100. But as you guys said he's better with better talent. So him ranking in the top 50 players next year is entirely plausible probably likely.
Plausible? Sure...but I'd want to see him play well again before I'd call it likely.

and, really, to be a top 50 player in the entire league shouldn't you need to show you can play when not surrounded by all stars and HOFers?

Have we not had this same exact conversation before? I feel like we just keep going in circles on this.

Again, unless you are a generational talent like LeBron, everyone is "useless" on a bad team. For example, Kevin Love has been on some terrible teams, and he puts up some numbers. What's the "use" of that?

You best be careful. Don't you besmirch the name of Kevin Love. Since he got to the league he's been the bestest PF in the game.

But he put up #s and was an all star on those teams. Green was awful. I guess in the sense of how good the "team" is it doesn't mean much but we are ranking players.

I would imagine there's a good number of guys you'd include in your top 50 who put up numbers for bad teams.

Not sure we've had a discussion regarding hurricane's top 50 list done in June, 2020.

Regarding Draymond's value, or your perception lackthereof. But go ahead with the semantics.

Klay Thompson might eventually be a good SG if he could ever play defense. You know because numbers and what not.

I commented I did not think Green deserved to be on his list. I explained why. You disagree? Cool. These lists would be boring if we all agreed.

That's fair, sure
Draymond is a pretty unique player. It's correct, he is all variance. On a bad team he is useless. On a good one he is more important than his numbers. He was arguably the most important Warrior before KD got there. Not the best, but most important.

So on lists like this he won't show up too high. But you'd rather have him on the right kind of team than many of the guys who do make the list. Which is why Draymond is better than Love and many others with better numbers.....but only on a good team
