Glendale's $25m (renewable for 10 years) looks real brilliant now that WPG is gone as a quick and easy destination.
make that $50 or $100 mill, and they'll be gone anyways.

enjoy your potholes, Glendale.

Quebec City will more than likely be the destination, even if the NHL has to live with the team playing in Le Colise for a couple of years before that shiny new arena is built.

I kinda feel bad for Hulsizer. Tried his best to save a team and Goldwater cockblocked him.

You shouldn't. The NHL went to borderline illegal means to make this deal happen for him. All he had to do is pay the bonds with his own money and the team would have been his.

I don't feel sorry for any owner who tries to make the taxpayers share the risk of potential financial losses.

I don't feel sorry for Hulsizer, I feel sorry for the taxpayers of Glendale who will have no money for road and sewer maintenance and likely no hockey team in 12-24 months.

This thing just keeps blowing up when the NHL could have had this solved 3 YEARS AGO. Bettman is such a retard and Glendale is paying the price. Literally.

Portland!?!

you need three things to be considered:

- ownership group (presumably Paul Allen?)
- viable market, including corporate support for luxury boxes / sponsorship deals
- a viable arena

until Oregon has all three (or at leans plans in place), it will not be taken seriously,
no matter how many times you ask.

-Paul Allen
-Portland, OR bring in the already Winterhawks following, plus we could get the southern part of Washington, all of Portland and Central to Southern Oregon in the Willamette Valley. There is no other team in the pacific nw.

Winterhawks bring in, what... 4,000 per game? at $15 average seat (I'm guessing),
is a long, long ways from filling an 18,000 seat building at $60 or more.
as Phoenix has learned, there is a difference between "population" and "population that cares about NHL".

don't know much about the arena (luxury boxes, upgrades in the past 20 years). It's a big plus that Allen owns the building though, if he's the guy that would be involved.

I think the league will push for KC. They have an arena ready to go. The only problem is the arena makes more money without a team than they probably would with one.

I am going to toss this out without really believing it. Vegas might be thrown out there again. I know the negatives: Vegas is a town where many people work at night: too many other things that cost big bucks: don't want players around gambling.
I am just thinking that if they put a team there the Phx market isn't lost for tv and many people would make a weekend road trip out of it. Many fans of other teams may do the same thing. I know it would fail after 5-10 years but you never know what this league will do.

The thing is finding an owner. Here please take this product, the market here sucks, the previous owner sucks, we ran one potential owner out of town, the next potential owner changed his mind once he saw the books, the next one got tired of people in the city filing lawsuits, so now we want you and we want you to keep the team here. Did I mention the market here sucks? sorry I should have skipped that part.

DO you guys really think the Coyotes will move this offseason?

DO you guys really think the Coyotes will move this offseason?

it all depends on how long Glendale is willing to keep writing checks.

they now are not buying time until the can close on an owner (even though the owner was trying to line his pockets beyond belief in the deal). They are now waiting until sucker #3 or 4 comes to town. The NHL really has to look at alternatives to move the team if those opportunities are real.

other than KC (don't know about market or owner there), Quebec city needs some time to get an arena in shape, as would Hamilton. Don't know that there is a ready market like WPG was, so moving someone next season might be tough unless one of the above gets cracking pretty quickly. The map has been laid out by the True North group, though.
