i think Alex Smith will be 'average' game 1, part of the reason is his line not being in sync yet. the other reason was already posted, i'd expect us to lean run.

It was a poor attempt at humor clyde, I just got so used to seeing them every week over there I thought it would be a good laugh.

I think Seattle will really be focused on stopping Gore and making Smith beat them.

So if the playcalling mixes up run and pass well and the offensive line offers some decent protection I think Smith could have a pretty decent day out there.

Play action, Play action, run. I say go for reverse logic early because they will stack the box expecting Gore. Smith should just look to VD and #17 early with the Seahawks watching Gore. Once you back them out of the box keep handing it off to Gore.

If the line protects Smith could be in for a decent day. Protection will be key though with so many defenders playing up close to the line to stop the run. The big plays will be there though if Smith has time to find them and step into his throws.

I think he'll get off to a good start because Harbaugh will have a game plan that builds his confidence and allows us to establish some balance, ie starting with a deep pass attempt to get some honesty out of the defense. Pound it. Pound it. Rollout. Play action.

If we can score on the first drive it'll be a great sign for Alex. If we 3 and out I'll be getting nervous.

I'd go with Hunter for a big play... but I'm not sure how much action he's gonna see.

The offense was so bland during the preseason I'd just be speculating out of my ass but... Maybe a TE seam big play... Maybe a Edwards one handed grab... Maybe even a Ginn go route. We definitely have some threats...

I am thinking Seattle might blitz like crazy. The O-line has not done a very good job picking up the blitz this preseason. If the O-Line can pass protect and give enough time, he might have a decent game. It is the Seahawks after all.

I think Gore's presence will greatly improve pass protection against blitzes. I don't believe he played against New Orleans or Houston, did he?

I don't think Gore played in those games. I hope you are right. It seems like someone always has a free shot at the forty-niner's quarterback.

As I mentioned before, I think the Niners will simplify the offense due to the shortened preseason. I would expect them to rely heavily on the run and short passes.
