Not really one place for us to talk about other moves and how it effects the division or draft day, figure I would try to start one.

Noticables, Suh leaves, better for us, then the Lions immediately trade for Ngata who is formidable, just doesnt demand double teams every down, dont have to game plan for him..

Jets went CB nuts in free agency again. Plenty of mock drafts had them taking Jalen Collins from LSU or Trae Waynes the Michigan state kid. That bookend to Fuller might have gotten a door opened as another possibility on draft day at 7.

I dont see that QB swap in Philly looking for Bradford to be the key for philly and any sign that they still wont give up alot for Mariota. Bradford just cannot stay healthy, actually think its easier to replace him with Mariota than if Foles was still there. Still that option to get 3-4 picks for that #7.

I don't agree on Suh. I don't mean to say that the Lions will be better for it on the field this year, because they won't. But he isn't worth the money Miami threw at him. That's just too much money for a defensive tackle...any defensive tackle. Detroit will have a lot more money to spend the next 6 years without him than with him, and in the long run will be better off.

That being said, in the horrific scenario where Roberto Garza remains our center, at least we won't have to suffer through watching Suh bull rush him like a rag doll.

now apparently they are out on Fairley too. Thats another loss.

One comment I heard about Suh was, he makes the entire defense better. almost 100 QB hurries credited to him since 2011, that makes the backfields job easier too.

Still does not make him worth more than what most elite QB's are paid. Not even close.

But I do agree. The Lions SHOULD be a little easier to deal with this year. But this frees up some possibilities for them.

true, but only so much. Not his fault, but no single defensive player can singlehandedly make a defense good. Their defense was pretty bad a couple of years when he was there. Defenses aren't like offenses because they don't have a guy who has the ball in his hand on every play. Most good defenses have good talent everywhere rather than one or two superstars only. It's too easy for an offense to game plan away from a couple of stars.

No, but in the grand scheme of things, it might be his last contract while quarterbacks can play to 40.

Kinda think the number is high so when he blows his head gasket the owner can say, "But Mr Suh, (stutter stutter stutter), we thought paying you would make you stop having your episodes.

Suh will be 35 when the contract expires too. Only a few players were really effective at that age (The Rev, Bruce Smith), so I'm happy the Lions didn't mortgage the future to try and squeak into the playoffs one more time.

I'll take Ngata and whatever $18.5MM will buy in free agency over one year of Suh at the tag number.

I agree. But why then let Fairley walk also? I don't get that part. Not fit the scheme anymore?

Fairly was playing way below his potential, always out of shape, a lot of questions about his motor.

Because Fairley is lazier than a Teamster on a contract with a government ministry. He only gave an effort AFTER they didn't pick up his fifth year. They're walking away because 2 months after he has guaranteed money he'll weigh 370.
