First off Dean, saying Gruden has the players to compete now is a stretch. We have a few but let's not mistake our glaring weakness' starting with the OL, LB & Secondary. We have much room for improvement in those areas before we can compete with anyone for a playoff spot. Gruden himself must adapt to his current team and realize he can't be so pass happy moving forward. But hey, let's blame his play calling on RGIII since everyone seems to think the QB is the center of all that is wrong with Redskin Nation.

Every position you mentioned skinz2wins has been addressed this offseason. IF we get good QB play we will contend for the division. We have the best LT, RB, and Wr's in the division. Arguably we have the best CB in the division in Culver. Plus the best OLb in the division in Kerrigan.

Excuse me dean....outside of Culver, didn't we have all of those guys last year?

All of them, to be sure are talented, but if you look at the warts, (...and yes every player has them) our LT has been banged up in the last couple of years and could begin to show the effects of that wear and tear this season.

Our RB, although effective, is NOT an effective 3rd down back. What good is he if he's riding the pine on 3rd and long? Unless you're counting Matt Jones as the RB in the division.

Our WR's while in line with their division rivals, are not very big in stature and therefore more easily covered in the "red zone." No improved QB play on earth will increase their height. In fact I'll go one further. DJax is a home run hitter....you know, with him it's either deep ball or short pass to the house. The way that I see Garcon is at odds with many here, but interestingly not with those that count. So rather than rehashing all of that again, let's agree to disagree. As far as Roberts is concerned..............Meh!

About Kerrigan.......Good guy, much talent, room for improvement if he gets physically stronger, but honestly, dude can't cover an had no business being asked to do that.........ever!

The biggest thing that SM has done for the fans of this team is to force them to see this team as it ACTUALLY is measured against other more successful clubs.Remember, bigger, stronger, more athletic, does not end with this draft.

here are the facts dean . 5 of the last 6 years we have been dead last ? why ? because our coach cant call red zone plays ? thats it ? couldnt be our qb play is pathetic ? our special teams are hot garbage

lets talk safety depth , we have the ancient golston and a 4 year special teams guy in johnson and a list of SS's and no FS's


and injury to hatcher throws the d/line into a mess

a kr/pr my country for a returner

an injury or 2 at wr and we start grant and crowder

williams make us an injury away from compton chester could win the job at RG

we have some spot talent on the roster but we dont have any real depth hence we arent competing for a division title unless we are extremely lucky

until proven otherwise the other 3 teams in our division outclass us by a great distance

a good half of our moves might work out

Golston is only 31. How is that ancient? We actually have good safety depth this year with Thomas, Nacho, and Robinson. If Hatcher goes down we have Francios. Decent player. Roberts can be a #2 WR. If we lose Williams yes its a problem but you can say that for any team who losses their LT.

If the QB clicks we can have success this year. This is not a 3-13 team this year. No way. Every position on the defense has good depth except ILB. This year their is now Oline depth. But of course our big question is the QB. IF the QB position gets solved we will be looking good.

if you are foolish enough to buy we have safety depth then i have a bridge to sell you its almost laughable you bring up nacho and davis robinson as any kind of solution at all goldston has been in decline since he arrived in tampa . he is a stop gap
