If you guys are so tight with the cap space right now are any of you ticked that you blew 2 mil on Gabbert? The guy is going to be in the last year of his contract. It seems more and more likely to me that the niners are realistically looking for alternatives to Kaep

Well, since they weren't bright enough to sign Darrelle Revis (even though the guy said he'd love to play in SF), they had 2 million to blow. :(

You may be right about the backup plan to Kaepernick. If he doesn't sign long-term they could tag him & try to trade him in the offseason. :hope:

Kap isn't going any where. There is no reason to get rid of him.

Yes, definitely. The move to me seemed pointless and a waste.

Although there are quite a few posters on here that defend any move. Hell we brought in Blaine Gabbert, Chris Cook, and Jonathon Martin and those moves were defended heavily by some. I would have laughed at that idea a few months ago if someone told me that we would bring those 3 in.

This FA filler action tells me Trent really likes this draft class.

I agree, I think he is high on this class and he has some plans for this draft.

I like the Martin pick up. Kid has a chance to be a starter in this league 1 day. He has talent. Blaine has a chance to be a ok back up. He never played with much talent so this might help him. Cook don't like the pick up but its not that big of a deal because he might not even make the team or we might just use him on special teams.

Sorry, but 12 mill a year for an aging, always hurt CB was not going to be the best move.

He's not really always hurt. He had that major knee tear and what, a hammy injury I think? Thats it for his career that I can think of. He had two seasons where he has missed games. One season obviously lost due to the ACL tear. Another season he played 13 of 16.

And 12 million a year sounds a little deceiving. He basically signed for a 1 year deal which would have been absolutely perfect for us.

Yes it is like a 1 year deal. No way Pats keep after this year. Price tag jumps up.

It seems like we will have just enough cap space to sign the draft picks this season...including the Rogers money. There was no way Revis could have been fitted it for what he wanted. The focus is now on the draft and who the 9ers will pick and at what cost(draft picks) if we trade up. WR and CB loom large here.....as usual.
