if this were an actual Vegas wager and the Jets, Giants, and Bills are all included, I suppose I would go with the over. Guessing that 3 teams (none of them being the Browns) would average less than 5 wins each in this league is a bit of a gamble. You figure one of them may overperform quite a bit from expectations (like the Bills did last year from this group)

The SOS is factual, the other is speculation.
Now, while I agree the 9ers will be better, it's just an opinion, based on how they finished 17 against weak teams.
At the same time some teams on the schedule wont be as good as they were last season, so using ONE team to qualify the schedule as tougher is a bit closed eyed .

Jets won 6 with a shell of a roster and should be able to match that at least

Buffalo won 9 with tyrod Taylor

Giants won 3 with a slew of massive injuries and have added Barkley, Beckham and a new Oline essentially

There is reasonable speculation and there is outrageous expectations

Assuming the Niners or even Dallas are better is pretty reasonable

Assuming Atlanta will morph into a 3 win team is pretty outrageous

That's why I like the first list, regardless of how it affects the Giants

It all depends on the assumptions of the writer doing the list. In theory I'd agree that a list that someone puts some thought into creating with reasonable expectations (some being as simple as home vs away) should be better than blindly using last years record. I always found using last years record to say someone has the toughest schedule was silly.

after seeing each team play a couple of weeks i would say buffalo will only win 1-2 games, jets will win 5-6 and giants will win 5-6 so i'm not sure they will get to 15 as a group ...

Wouldn't shock me if the Jets find themselves in a wildcard race and finish in the 8-8 or 9-7 range

their offense definitely looks brutal but i think their defense will keep them in some games.
