Here are the top 5 quarterback prospects according to the media big boards:
CBS Sports: Blake Bortles (6th best player, 1st round), Johnny Manziel (7th best player, 1st round), Teddy Bridgewater (15th, 1st round), Derek Carr (26th, 1st and 2nd round), and Tom Savage (31st, 1st and 2nd round)
ESPN: Bortles (11th, 1st round), Bridgewater (18th, 1st round), Manziel (19th, 1st round), Savage (58th, 2nd to 3rd round), and Jimmy Garoppolo (64th, 2nd and 3rd round).
Fox Sports: Bortles (7th, 1st round), Manziel (8th, 1st round), Bridgewater (10th, 1st round), Carr (24th, 1st and 2nd round), and Garoppolo (33rd, 1st and 2nd round)
NFL Network: Bortles (17th, 1st round), Bridgewater (20th, 1st round), Carr (22nd, 1st and 2nd round), Manziel (26th, 1st and 2nd round), and Garoppolo (41st, 2nd round)
At the moment, I am going to go 3 quarterbacks: Bortles, Manziel, and Carr.
Bortles - Seen as the most pro-ready and comes with a Big Ben-like reputation, minus the off-the-field stuff.
Manziel - He's got the flash, the "it boy" factor.
Carr - Despite coming from a non-AQ school and having a reputation for playing poorly under duress, teams are going to gravitate toward him because of his size and arm strength.
I am not sure about Bridgewater, I think he will slide into the 2nd round, simply because teams question his arm strength and body frame.
Garoppolo and Savage in the first round would be reaches, but not unrealistic. My team, the Bills, picked Manuel at #16, and no media big board had him as a 1st round pick. Ditto for Flacco in 2008.
How about you?
