I get it but then hart does things like sign Markakis and trade for Bourn and Swisher...then trade away a prospect for an unknown unproven Cuban defect. Then this year he builds a rent-a-roster with AJ, Johnson, aybar, francouer, norris, chacin, and grilli. Hart acts like he has no plan and is just winging it
Oh yeah I understand the lean years of the Pirates were the same way. Unfortunately at that time they had Dave Littlefield who not only kept signing retreads but left the minor league system barren for years.

That seems to be the one positive is the fact the Braves do have talent in the system. It will be frustrating this year and next but come 2018, 19 and 20 you should see a good roster.

I lowkey want Freddie Freeman to hit 100 home runs this year and give everyone the finger the whole time he's rounding the bases.

I haven't seen it, but I haven't looked for it either, so that doesn't mean much. I'll keep you posted.
Just picked up two tins for $4.04 a piece. I would definitely recommend it if you like mint; far better than Skoal's or Grizzly's mint. It's less "minty" than Skoal's; more similar to Grizz's mint. I like this one better because I like Cope better than Grizzly in general. Check it out when you get a chance and tell me what you think

Well, from what I hear the Braves REALLLY wanted Olivera and couldn't hang in the bidding. If you keep Hart's Olivera boner raging, I think that trade makes more sense for Atlanta.

The trade was really like this (ignoring the Marlins):

Dodgers get
Jose Peraza - the real gem of the trade, Braves #1 infield prospect.
Luis Avilan - a decentish LHRP
Jim Johnson - a veteran RP with no place on the Braves, easy salary to shed
Alex Wood - a young SP on the verge of getting pricey - this was probably the peak of his trade value.
International Spending $$$ - the Braves probably couldn't afford to use it anyways

Braves get
Hector Olivera locked up long term minus the outrageous signing bonus. Maybe he's better than Peraza? Point is, they'll have him for the majority of his MLB career and he'll be cheap.
Paco Rodriguez - probably better than Luis Avilan, when healthy
Chris Withrow - probably better than Jim Johnson, when healthy
Zachary Bird - a top 10ish pitching prospect in a very, very deep Dodgers farm system. He might be top 5 in other organizations. I know lots of prospect hounds that were not okay with seeing Bird go. He is well-liked, but buried behind better arms (Lee, Urias, DeLeon, Holmes, Anderson, etc.)
Money Saved in the form of an injured Bronson Arroyo.
A Draft Pick because they're in rebuild mode.

No it wasn't a spectacular win for the Braves and it does hinge on the future careers of Olivera and Peraza, as they were the biggest slices of the pie. I suppose Hart felt that Olivera was the "safer" choice of the two. Personally I loved this trade for the Dodgers, and I won't deny that I feel like the Dodgers got the better half. That said, I see the logic that Hart is using and it doesn't seem like he's coming from a place of incompetence or stupidity - which is the point I'm trying to get across. I think that Hart is just doing the best he can with the pieces he has, rather than just throwing money at the problem and doing wonky shit like other GMs have done in similar situations.

To me the dumbest move was signing Nick Markakis. I still don't know how to wrap my noggin around that one.

Markakis is from the atlanta area, they figure it would soften the blow of losing Heyward and J-Up. And it was before they caught trade fever

That's a dumb reason to sign a guy.
