Many of us have been Bronco fans for many, many years. Speaking for myself I moved to Colorado about the same time as a young John Elway got off a plane at Stapleton Airport being followed by a whole lot of reporters. We had the good (sometimes "bad") fortune of watching his career take flight. The amazing comebacks at the end of the game certainly tested the health of our hearts. Now, we have on our team another QB who sets records and performs "surgery" on the field. So thankful. There are other teams that have had a good tandem - 49ers, Packers as example but they jettisoned their star QB. Elway stayed thru his career unlike Montana and Favre. How lucky we are.

Definitely good fortune to have had Elway as our QB and now PM. I saw a thread posted by a 49er fan last night that asserted that PM chose to sign with Denver instead of his team due to the superior WRs in Denver. There might be an element of truth in that, but I always bought into the media reports that suggested the deciding factor was that PM chose to work for Elway in order to give PM an opportunity to go out on top, like Elway did. If that happens, and it certainly seems possible, that will be another great chapter in the history of the team. Either way, I definitely agree that Broncos fans have had a lot of good fortune (though there has certainly been a heavy dose of sorrow and disappointment mixed in (LOL)) to have had two great QBs -- along with many great players at other positions -- to root for over the years.

I think we can feel similarly fortunate that Elway's return in his new capacity seems to be the impetus that has returned Bronco football as we knew it in John's glory days. I would be surprised if Peyton would be here without his intercession. When McDaniels arrived, I think the biggest change he made was that the team just didn't seem like the Bronco's as we knew them. Winning and losing aside, the Bronco's have always had their own unique identity, it certainly seems that the team and their aura in general is more like it should be. Obviously the long term question though is...what happens after Peyton Manning.

Maybe you all heard the interview Elway did with 104.3 The Fan during training camp. He was asked what was the biggest obstacle for him when he accepted the job as VP. He said it was changing the culture. That people in the Broncos organization did not "like" football anymore - (an obvious dig at McDaniels) and that his goal was to change the mindset. So getting a guy like Fox who is always so positive was one of his major goals. Another interesting interview was with Saccamono - the PR guy for the Broncos who is retiring after this year. He said that during the McDaniels era - Josh was so paranoid that he thought his office had been wiretapped and that all the coaches and office people were out to get him. (We all were - why not them - Sorry - love to get as many digs in about McDaniels as I can.) So glad fake hoodie is gone.

I was about to say the same thing. Todd Haley was convinced his office was bugged and that Pioli was spying on him. Part of the "Patriot Way" seems to be overvaluing secrecy, and that seems to have bred itself into extreme paranoia.
