Well, let's think about that.
Seems to me, you either want to block somebody or you don't. Same concept as friending or unfriending someone on facebook.

Why just not engage me in any way if he's so dead set against it?

I have a better way to ignore posts or people if I'm not interested, It's very simple. I just don't read it nor respond to it.
