Obvious benefit: I am assuming it is just too complicated for you to understand. If Dak has a career ending injury this year which way ends up better for the Cowboys? The ability to put off a $175M contract in a cap world is an absolutely huge benefit for a team.

Possible benefit: If Dallas extends Dak this year for 4 years they likely do so in the future for 4 more years so that is 8 premium $ years for a QB. But if they go two years of tags and then 4 years there is a good chance that is it for Dak, so it's 6 years. That is of course a scenario that we can't predict but a scenario that could be huge for Dallas. They also may end up trading him or not resigning him.

Your comment that he only gets more expensive: If he signed a 4 year deal today it would be with a low cap hit year 1 and probably year 2 so years 2022 and 2023 could be as high as $45M each against the cap to come to an average of $35M. You think he signs for MORE than $45M per in two years? Regardless the cap goes up every year which is why the contracts are structured as they are in the first place.

Lastly, coming back to your hypocrisy on, well pretty much everything. You said for months Dallas would be dumb and kill their team by giving Dak a huge LT deal. They don't do it and you say they are dumb for it. Maybe the dumb one is you...

So this is actually a benefit to the Cowboys if Dak suffers a career ending injury...but then they don't have a QB so how is that a benefit?

Cowboys can't extend Dak 4 more years this year. The deadline for an extension for a player on the tag was July 15th, that time has come and gone. They have screwed this situation up so badly they are either going to have to tag him again next year or sign him to a new deal that will be far more expensive than if they did it last year and even a few weeks ago prior to the Mahomes deal.

When did I say it would be dumb for the Cowboys to sign Dak to a new deal? The only thing I've been saying is they have been bumbling this whole situation and are causing themselves to ultimately pay way more for Dak than they would have had to of they just took care of things sooner.

@mrschaney

The Cowboys fucked up. What they should have done is given that 30+ mil to Andy and traded Dak.

You really want Dak to get injured don't you? You've mentioned the injury possibility way too many times. Be careful though, karma can be a bitch. Your hopes of a Dak injury could end up haunting your team. Good thing Wentz has been healthy his entire career right?

I'm pretty sure he means that if Dak has a major injury under the FT rather than a LTD, then yes the Cowboys benefit.
Shouldn't be that hard to understand even for you.

As for the bumbling response, I'd say no they didn't bumble anything, as they offered more than a fair deal.
If you want to say they bumbled it last off season I'd agree.

I'm literally responding to the post I had quoted where he said a benefit of the Cowboys tagging Dak is if he suffers a career ending injury they aren't stuck with him.

I'm using his own words. The only benefit he listed of the franchise tag is Dak suffering a career ending injury. What kind of benefit is that really to a franchise with their QB?

As for the bumble, full on bumble. Now next year they will have to offer even more to try to get a deal done. The price is only going to continue to rise.

Jesus you get dumber by the day?
I wasn't saying Dak getting a career ending injury would be a benefit to the team on the field. I'm saying if he were to get an injury like that it is better to be tagged than on a $175M deal. Please tell me at least that you could figure that out and not that you really just meant to type that

Obviously the discussion was about IF they extended him this year before the deadline. I'm seriously starting to wonder if you even have the ability to get through the day without assistance at this point

What??? You have said for months that Dak wasn't worth the money being talked about. Now you are saying that not giving him that money and instead tagging him was dumb. WTF dude. You are just a whirlwind of either spouting BS or backtracking...It's like watching a tennis match reading your posts

Dalton was signed as an insurance policy because of Dak's contract demands.

That is certainly a big part of it. Also just having a backup who can win games if your starter gets injured is a smart idea. The idea of him being signed to be the starter next year is where I think people start getting a little off course to say the least...

He's not going to get it, and I'm done with him. Trying to have a rational conversation with him isn't possible.

Hey did you know Wentz has as many playoff wins as Dalton?

Welcome to the RTK show it’s more
Delusional than the PE1 show.

although like the little girl he is, he calls you names, and runs away when you prove him wrong or say things he doesn’t like.

but he did tell us one time...

“if you come at me I come at you. Momma didn’t raise no bitch”.

Yes that’s serious and I have it bookmarked

It makes sense that the Cowboys would let Dak walk after this season. After all, they already locked up the RB position with Zeke.

The only benefit you could state regarding the franchise tag, and an obvious benefit to you, was in the highly unlikely scenario where Dak got a career ending injury they wouldn't be stuck on the hook for the contract.

And yes as the price keeps going up for Dak due to the Cowboys bumbling of this whole situation I laugh at how much they are going to pay him. But by tagging him and kicking the can down the road further down the road that doesn't mean the Cowboys are going to end up paying Dak less. They are going to end up paying him a lot more if they keep him long term. It is a total botching of the situation by the Cowboys when they could have gotten Dak for much cheaper then they will have to eventually pay him on a new contract.

You guys are arguing over a what will be a non issue.
Jerrah tagged him cuz he ain't gonna be in Dallas next year.
8-8 ain't gettin you a big contract.
Won't be any Nfl after a couple of weeks of playing anyway.
