How do we keep Callahan?

I think part of the reason he came here was because he thought there might be a shot at him becoming the interim coach this year. Doesn't look like that is going to happen and he is doing for us what he did for Dallas. I could see someone come calling this summer.

Anyone know his contract details?

Has he expressed interest in becoming a head coach again? I'd imagine keeping him well paid should be enough. It's only been 2 weeks, I don't think it's time to worry about him being lured to another team. If he is, that means the Skins are kicking some ass, so I can live with it

He is signed for 3 years to a very lucrative contract. I blame Dan for a lot of things but I think he will pony up to keep Callahan if things stay the way they are.

I know it's early to start thinking about this stuff, but we can't block him from interviewing for a HC job. I just have a feeling we are gonna lose this guy sooner than later.

Well first and foremost I would say, make sure you dont take away his toys (meaning resign Alf sooner rather than later)

Secondly, a promotion might be in order. Say Assistant head coach or something along those lines.

And last but not least, might have to kidnap his favorite grand child and hold them hostage until say the middle of training camp 2016 just to be on the safe side.

I have no doubt Snyder pay whatever, but if the first two weeks are any indication of the season to come, understand he will be on everyone's head coaching short list this Spring.

Guys, we've played 2 games. We have 1 win. I get the excitement, but shouldn't we wait until, oh I don't know maybe we have 2 wins, before we start speculating if gruden is safe or gone and who his replacement is?

We've been speculating if Gruden was safe since ota's. This is more about Callahan taking a job elsewhere.

I think after Sunday, the only people speculating Gruden getting fired, are also the ones who still think he who shall not be named should be starting. As far as Callahan goes, if our line keeps improving, and the ground game keeps pumping out the yards... its safe to say SOMEONE will try to get him away from us. Since money will not be an object if this team continues to improve, it will be all about title. If some one offers him a head coach job, we cant compete. BUt if some one is offering him a head coach job, that likely means this team did a fuckton better than any one (including those of us on this board) expected.

I'm not so sure the interest will be all that high in Callahan the HC. I see him in the same category as Wade Phillips. Numerous teams would love Phillips to be their Def Co, but to be their HC not so much. Same with Callahan as their OL coach, but not their HC.

Maybe I'm wrong though and it only takes one team not numerous teams to make it happen.

Tear up his current contract and in addition to HC type money include non convertible stock options making him an instant stock holder, which by the way also creates an conflict of interest circumstance should he try to bolt to another team.

Callahan appears to be doing a good job with our young players. But he did the same thing in Dallas. Let's be real, there weren't a lot banging down his door. Just us. Dallas even relinquished some duties from him. He has been a HC and it didn't go well. I wouldn't be so sure that he will be considered as HC again. Nor would I be so sure he wants it. Especially here after observing how shit operates in this circus.

Agree. Not necessarily applying this to posters on this forum, but I can guarantee you that if/when this team stumbles a bit some fans will be calling for the team to get rid of certain coaches, trade/cut players, etc, etc. This is still a team in rebuilding mode so we should not expect perfection and a playoff run. Now if they do have success, make a run, etc - great - but fans should not get too down if the Redskins fall short (perhaps often) & most of this speculation is way too premature.

well i still believe this is a 6 win team and that we will be in alot of games

that being said i will talk about this team in playoff terms until if/when were are eliminated

right now we could go up 2 wins in conference games which helps us in a tie breaker and 1 win in nfc east games which helps us in a tie breaker if we are in contention and to keep pacewith the cowboys who have 2 wins in the division .
