The contract is extremely front loaded.

It’s 5/105 with a 3/39 opt in.

And I will at it’s possible that 1b d is underrated because 1b are more graded for recording while the stars tend to favor range.

"If he's really good then we'll only have him for a few seasons but if he's bad we'll be stuck with him even longer! What's not to like?"

I just don’t understand what they’re thinking.

I’m sure they could do both but man you’re in primer positok to sign a premium talent like a machado next year. Maybe a sp too.

And they do this. And Hosmer will be over 30 before the prospects are ready to do anything.
There was/is a 0% chance they could sign Machado next year although that was my original hope for who they would give a shit ton of money to. And at least a few of their top 10 prospects have a chance to debut this season.

I think this video is a good example of how South Park affects itself a little by using real current events so often. This is still funny and it probably will be funny 20 years from now, but I can't help but think it loses a little something when the person watching doesn't know what's being referenced. When you make jokes about major events like 9/11 or presidential elections you're probably pretty safe but I bet that most people watch that and laugh without thinking "holy shit, that's a Kony joke!".

Anyway, back on topic. I guess people still hire Boras for some reason, eh?

I know the reference, but I saw the episode when it was new and I have that season on DVD.

It's partially set up by even though Stan is riding high the entire time during that episode Kyle is telling him that he's going to end up naked and jacking it in San Diego.

That being said, it's not something that people are going to remember why they did it this many years later.

It was my favourite episode of that season, the stuff between Butters and his grandma was so good.

System is weak at 1B and LF, and this nabs both holes I guess? This is just weird.
If they are weak in LF, all they need to do is move a 3B to left field.
That's an easy spot to fill if the guy can hit.
Corey Dickerson .................

Of course, they have their own dickerson already who is pretty good that no one is talking about.

But yeah, this deal just wreaks for SD.

He did.

Mr. Ed too.

That is an obvious Photoshop.
wow, I think you're right. Fred Gwynne is turning over in his grave--but Al Lewis is not (he's not really dead, he just turned into a bat)

If you didn't see this coming, you're either retarded....or you work for the Padres organization.

He was coming off a strong 2017 campaign, but it was also a pretty BABIP-driven year and he hasn't improved on his very high groundball rates. he's also been making less contact and has become more strikeout prone.

Hosmer's contract hasn't aged well. But my Al Lewis reference stands the test of time
