Ah, the extra year and the opt out you say.

A much needed go away and take your contract somewhere else. I was a bit down they were actually going to sign him (so I thought) for a while. Dayton Moore tried his best to make a nonsense deal, but the Padres stepped up it appears. Just rebuild.

The Padres did the Royals a big favor here. No way is Hosmer worth that contract, especially to a team like KC that has budget restrictions.

I don't get to use this very often. Only when a San Diego team screws up. Since there is only one team left, I had to.

It will be a screw up if he fails to be a consistent 2-3 WAR player for at least the first 5 seasons and is more of the up and down player he's been so far. But he hasn't played one game for them, I'd rather wait and see before calling this a horrible signing. I like the video though.

This is the type of franchise superstar that instantly makes you a World Series contender.

Have we learned nothing from the Ryan Howard debacle........
This is a bad deal even for an American League team, much less the Padres

Well I can now see why these quality players are still free agents. Because they are all asking for salaries way above their grade how the hell does someone who only made the all star team once knocking out around only 25 homers receive an 8 year contract at 20 mil a season?

One can only imagine what Bryce Harper will get if I were him and I see that Stanton got 13 years 320 million I would be looking for around 400 million over that same length especially if I have another monster year 2018

I like Hosmer but this is a terrible deal for the Padres. to long a term and to big a contract.
