honest opinions about a 60 game "season"

I don't like the DH, mostly because it just means that teams carry more relievers and the games last longer because of pitching changes ad nauseum.

But really, half the pitchers stop hitting in high school. Even my scrub college team had very few guys that could pitch and hit. Sure, we'll miss things like Joe Blanton's WS dinger, but whatever.

I don't like the DH. I like the strategy of the games in the NL. Do you leave your starter in to bat in the top of the 7th since he is still pitching good?

I mean, I like the strategy aspect of it, as well. But, hopefully the DH + extra bullpen arms will cut down the number of times a position player pitches.

I'm OK with it for this odd short season, but I'm afraid it is going to stick. I hope MLB realizes that the DH being different in each league is a benefit to the game.

The season will be one of two ways for the Mariners.

1. Seattle starts off red hot and the Oakland A's fall again and again. Fans in Seattle start cheering in the streets (6 ft apart, with masks) Seattle has the 2nd wildcard in hand. The nightmare is over Seattle will take the 2 wildcard spot WOOO. Then the A's will get hot, winning 30 of the next 33 games as Seattle can't win a game to save there lives. Season ends Seattle 10 games out the 2nd wildcard spot and Oakland wins the 1st wildcard spot. They are the hottest team going into the playoffs.

A's get swept out the playoffs in the 1st round by Boston. God, I hate this movie, seen too many times.

2. Seattle makes the WS, fans everywhere say it doesn't count and the no playoff streak keeps being counted against Seattle.

I think they should just embrace the fact it's a gap season. Why not implement more of the proposed changes? I heard they are going to go with the DH (as mentioned) and having a runner start at 2nd during extras. Experiment some, what do they have to lose?

The highlighted is dumb ... I wish they would have shit-canned this season so we would get the #1 pick again. But who says we won't win the #1 pick!!!

As much as I hate that runner on 2nd rule I kinda understand not wanting to have so many games go super long with such a condensed schedule.

It's just gonna suck when they use it as an excuse to make it permanent.

Unfortunately this probably won't be a special times call for special moves deal. MLB has wanted this for awhile because the league office is full of dumbasses.

It has occurred to me that the bizarre MLB happening we are about to witness needs new reference terms to use when talkinh about this later.
Ordinarily we would say that there has been a season....followed by play-offs....followed by a World Ssries. I offer now that we say there will have been a "period of play".....followed by a qualifying round....then to be settled by a tournament.

The Twins have been made aware that several players have tested positive for COVID-19.
Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports that none of the players were working out at Fort Myers in Florida or Target Field in Minnesota. The identity of those players has not been released at this time. There's also no word yet if any of the players are symptomatic
