I'm pretty sure that NBC isn't covering The Classic. I'm almost positive the game is going to be on versus. Am I wrong here? That's what it says on NHL.com

With the combined forces of NBC Sports and Versus, this Sunday is shaping up to be one of the biggest hockey days in recent television memory. With NBC’s Hockey Day In America joining forces with Versus’ coverage of the 2011 Heritage Classic in Calgary the two networks are set to bring hockey to the people for up to nine hours worth of coverage.

Upon the conclusion of the game from Chicago, action then shifts from NBC to Versus for coverage of the 2011 Heritage Classic.

I see. So in essence NBC is going to talk about the game but it will be played on Versus. That's pretty much what I thought but the word coverage, to me at least, somewhat implies showing the actual game. Oh well...

Well, NBC and VS are the same company now so it stays in the family. Before it was just gonna be VS using CBC's feed, but the merger changed those plans.

This isn't about not celebrating the game of hockey in America being a bad thing. Of course it is a very good thing, but at the very least come up with a different title or format so it doesn't look blatantly obvious you are copying CBC. This post was being critical of NBC more than anything else.
