Nope. He was optioned in 2011 & 2013. In 2012 and 2014 he only had rehab assignments to the minors (when coming off the DL).

He had a pretty good 3/4 season with San Jose in 2011. And yes, that's it (and was the reason I was against him starting the season in SF in 2012 - I thought he should get more seasoning in Fresno first.)

What other options were there in '12? Stewart was traded for Kontos and Whiteside was in Baltimore (IIRC). Was Quiros in the org at that time?

I think at the time, Sanchez was as good an option as any FA would offer but at a fraction of the cost, and he was not an elite prospect that we needed to play it carful with his development or watch his clock.

My viewpoint was that since we had Stewart, we didn't need to promote Sanchez so quickly - let him play every day in Fresno and keep learning, make him more valuable, or at least evaluate him. He went from Stellar SJ performance to pretty crappy in Fresno, and I saw no reason to rush him. Once Stewart was traded I switched to "OK, it looks like it's going to be Sanchez, we don't have anything better. I *can't believe* that we got Kontos for that POS Stewart!!"

IIRC Stewart was traded very, very, VERY close to the end of ST (maybe even just the day before).

In fact, my position was ridiculed by quite a few on the board, saying that Sanchez was going to be a star and I was going to be eating crow. Nope - I pretty much called it.

Whoops. I thought that as the thread where I was insulted. I was wrong (I just re-read all of it, which I didn't before). Sorry guys - it was another thread. And I have no idea which one it was - it was just one where I had been posting for less than 2 months, and I was positive it was that one. My bad.
