Well, newspaper writers are paid to do one thing and one thing only......rile people up.

This is how more money comes in. The more pissed off people get, the more they tend to give attention to what pisses them off. It's been that way for years, and it's strange.....but that's how we work.

TV commentators are a different story. They're speaking to a large crowd of people living all across the country. They literally cannot be biased.....they'd get fired. They have to be even right down the middle. And they always are.

They are? You don't see Shatel doing what Barfneck does.

Everyone hates Ed Cunningham simply because of a couple games where he said we should have gotten targeting calls.

But watch any other game he calls. He says the same thing every other game, for every other team. It's not just a Nebraska thing.

He would be fired so fast if that was the case. The first thing they teach you in broadcasting and journalism is to know your audience. In the case of a commentator, their audience is the entire country. Fans of all different teams from all different states. They simply cannot be biased, or shit would hit the fan.

The only way any of them would be fired fast is if they said a racial or gay slur.

It is just a fact of life that Nebraska fans in general think the announcers and the refs hate us.
