We could of had Van Noy, Moses, Breeland, and Yankey. Now we have Murphy, Moses, Long, Breeland, and Grant. Which draft would you rather have?? I believe Van Noy and Yankey would have been better players for this team than Long and Grant.

Thoughts??

Thought right off the bat.... The coaches could care less what we as fans want on draft day. They saw spmething in Murphy that they liked over van Noy, they liked Long over Yankey... IM fine with what we have done because they didnt panic. They picked for talent over position and stayed true to THEIR big board. Which is the only one that matters.

Talent!!! Murphy and Long are more talented than Van Noy and Yankey?? Its Amerson over Swearinger all over again. Hey its done now but you have to question the moves and the picks.

Also if you don't like Yankey we could of had C. Richardson from Baylor.

Dude, WE can question them until we are blue in the face and Jesus Chirst comes to deliver personal invitations to the Beatles reunion tour staring the Original Beatles with Aero Smith and Run DMC as the warm up acts.

What we think has ZERO bearing on what the coaches think. We dont know what the coaches did or didnt see that formed their opinion. Im going to tell you something I have been told by another old timer many times over the years.... Murphy and Long ar Redskins now. Van Noy and Yankey are not... its useless to pine over what yo wish we had. Time to look forward to what we o have and simply enjoy for a moment.

Not a wash. Considering Detroit made a trade up just to get Van Noy others believed he was a great talent. If Long works out it betters the grade in this draft. The Breeland and Moses picks were great. Grant didn't make any sense.

murphy put up 14 sacks last season . lets be bold and say 6 were because of scheme , still 8 sacks , he is tall has good hands and has great smarts and work ethic

i like van noy but murphy isnt chopped liver either

they said only 2 of those sacks were on his own. The numbers lie in this case. a lot were coverage and clean up sacks.

dean that is foolishness and highly unfair for any jack wagon to say that . i dont believe 12 sacks are scheme related and anyone who does is a fool

thats like saying all of aldon smiths sacks were because of scheme and justin smith.
murphy is relentless and has a high motor. skins have scouted him on their own 100 times more than you have. they got what they feel was a steal and a great player.

How come 25 other college football players didn't get 12 scheme related sacks and end up with more than Murphy? What exactly is a scheme related sack? I want to see this scheme or play diagramed or explained.

More to the point, can we copy said scheme and start having some of our guys rack up 12 sacks a season for little or no effort and sever short comings in talent??

Redskins selected Stanford OLB Trent Murphy with the No. 47 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
Murphy (6-foot-5 3/8, 250) played outside linebacker for the Cardinal, earning second-team All-American accolades in 2013. He finished his career with a whopping 52.5 tackles for loss and 32.5 sacks, good for third most in school history. Murphy clocked 4.86 at the Combine with a 9-foot-10 broad jump. Despite his college stats, Murphy lacks NFL-caliber edge-rush tools. After charting all 15 of Murphy's senior-year sacks, NFL Films' Greg Cosell stated, "only two of them came when he actually beat someone. I don't really think he's a true NFL pass rusher." Ultimately, Murphy is a try-hard college player whose skills may simply struggle to translate.

That's proof enough for me. The guy just plain sucks. I don't understand why more teams don't rely on Cosell for their scouting and just fire their entire staff. It would save money. Thanks dean for showing us the light.
