Melton isnt flashy, but he takes up two blockers on most plays. It will be different without him, and the other guys need to step up. Collins aint bad, but melton is the better 3 technique guy.

Melton is a stud DT. I can tell you that Lions fans are definitely relieved that he's out. Not to say we wish injury on opponents, but injuries happen, and he's someone we'd rather not have to account for on every play.
We lost starters Jason Jones and Nate Burleson since last Sunday, and though neither are as important to us as Melton is to you guys, it all adds up. Nobody wants to be losing key guys only 3 weeks in...

Thats the thing is Depth, we could probably get by with 3 DTS, but its alot better to have 4. especially this early in the season. i did read we may be trying to get a free agent DT though. I think Alan Branch would be a good fit. and we could always get Okoye back, hopefully he has been staying in shape.
