Lou was able to get him to give up at least 1 (I think 2) years of UFA status.

Looking at his goal pace from last year, even if he never improves again, this is a solid deal for any 20G scorer.

yeah i like it. him and zajac hopefully give us that needed depth down the middle. only downside is are either one of them a true legit #1 nhl center?

i also would love to know how much the new owners were involved in this deal. was this a deal that was 95% done and they went along for the ride. or were they the ones that wanted the deal with this amount. think it would be a good sign on how much they are willing to pour into the team

Both sides have been saying for months that they were very close, so it was probably like 95% done anyway they just wanted to wait for the ownership situation to stabilize before pulling the trigger on it.

Would have loved it for 3.5 per year,but 4 is fine for a 23 yr old with alot of upside. Needed to lock him up long term, but Henrique and Zajac will need to start stepping their game up a notch to match the contracts they were given.

i agree this team only goes as far as they take them. you cant have your top 2 centers who have the longest contracts on the team struggle. its bad all around

Dollar amount doesn't bug me at all. $4 million for a top 2 center, especially when he's 27/28 and the cap has gone up is a bargain.
