Hawks vs 49er Wide Receivers - Adv Stats

Not sure if anyone cares but for all of the sub-par comments we here from pundits on our WR's, overall, we're really not bad. A lot of the success is attributed to RWill but still....

For anyone that's interested in some NFL advanced metrics here's a WR recap and link.

Football Outsiders has 2 main acronyns.

1. DYAR - A WR with more total value. (Defense adjusted Yds Above Replacement)
2. DVOA - A WR with more value per play. ( Defense adjusted Value Over Avg )

Using those advance metrics to corroborate a comparison between Seattle's and 9er's receivers concludes the following.

2012 DYAR NFL Ranking:

#14 - Sidney Rice - Seattle Seahawks
#18 - Golden Tate - Seattle Seahawks
#29 - Anquin Boldin - (formerly of Ravens)
#61 - Doug Baldwin - Seattle Seahawks
#62 - M. Manningham San Fran 49ers

Under 50 throws features Kyle Williams and Jonathon Baldwin. Baldwin was in the bottom 10 WR's. Kyle's sample size is small as was his rating.

2012 DVOA NFL Ranking:

# 4 - Golden Tate - Seattle Seahawks - Yes, #4 in the NFL.
# 7 - Sidney Rice - Seattle Seahawks - Yes, #7 in the NFL.
#32 - Anquan Boldin - formerly of Ravens
#48 - Doug Baldwin - Seattle Seahawks
#53 - MManningham - San Fran 49ers

Again, Kyle Williams and Jonathon Baldwin had an under 50 sample size but neither
were even worth mentioning.

In conclusion, Based on my eye test, based on highlights, based on clutch catches, based on standard stats, based on damage done against the 49er's, it's been obvious from jumpstreet that Rice is right there with Boldin (who had 112 passes thrown but doesn't get the separation nor the completions), Doug Baldwin is superior to Jon Baldwin and Golden Tate is way above Kyle Williams, who is just a 35 catch in 3 season reserve.


Now we corroborate with advanced metrics introduced and the pendulum swings even further to Seattle's side than previously mentioned.

Sidney Rice and Golden Tate have more value than Q Boldin.
Sidney Rice, Golden Tate AND Doug Baldwin have more value than Manningham.

No need to even mention Kyle Williams and Jonathon Baldwin because they are
in the lower echelon and sample size. Rice, Tate, Baldwin >>> KW, JB

I guess the wild card is Patton. Looks good in pre-season... but...
