In all seriousness, his agent probably wanted to get him more upfront and a little bit more overall in the negotiations. Total stab, but I'll guess the final stages were like this...

-Hawks offer 3.25, 2.25, 2.25
-Crawford's agent counters 3.25, 2.5, 2.25
-And then the team asked to shift the extra quarter mil to the final year
-Handshake
