I believe this thread(and all the articles like it) is an attempt of making Saban think he's accomplished enough so he'll retire.

Not gonna work! :nono:
Too bad he couldn't cut it at the next level

It often seems like any discussions about the best players or coaches of all-time always end up deferring to the older coaches like Bryant, Hayes, Wilkinson, Osborne, etc. It's not to take anything away from those coaches, they were all incredibly elite. However, Saban undoubtedly deserves a place among them, if not ahead of them.

College football today is hyper-competitive, and every coach has got to do everything they possibly can to put themselves ahead of the pack. Coaches have to be much more savvy and creative today to not only become elite, but stay there.

If anyone said Nick Saban was the greatest college coach of all-time, you'd have a damn hard time trying to prove them wrong.

He's close to it, maybe another national title could put him over the edge.

Saban is the best of all time in college football. Doesn't anyone remember how Alabama was commonly referred to as the "Yellow Tide" when Bryant kept ducking hard bowl games? Saban can't duck anyone and he still wins and wins and wins.

Shit, man, don't hate. It happened. A lot. It is just one of those things that is a negative against The Bear. He was also dead set against playing blacks. But he was a legend and still a great coach. Every coach has got some warts. OU has 3 coaches (Switzer, Wilkinson and Stoops) with better winning percentages than Bear Bryant. But each of the OU coaches had/has their faults too. It's life. Nick Saban is the best of them all.

That gif always makes me chuckle...

I was listening to one of those radio shows t'other week, can't remember what station or hosts or guest, but they were talking about how back when Lee Corso was coaching Indiana in the 70's, he would go down to Columbus every year to talk with Woody Hayes about potential recruits.

Corso would have his list of guys he was looking at, and Hayes would scan down it and go "Okay, this guy, you have no shot of signing him...same with this guy, he'll be coming here as soon as we visit him...this guy, we're not interested in so go get him if you can...forget about this guy..." etc., all down the list.

The point being made was that the competition for top players is so intense now, no one would dream of a coach from a "lesser" school going to meet with a coach from a blueblood program to essentially ask permission to recruit certain players. So to the speaker's mind, Saban was already one of the greatest coaches in college football history because of the way the recruiting landscape has been changed, the competition he faces in the SEC for players, and the fact that he continues to dominate what is considered the top conference as well as the top schools from other leagues in Bowl games.
