Now returning kickoffs, he seems to have maken quite a splash with the Rams. Is he a threat to take over for Stacy, or is Fisher blowing smoke to motivate ol' Zac?

I still lean towards the latter, but it's now something that I don't think can be ignored by Stacy owners.

Not sure what to make of it. But what it currently looks like ? I don't think either is relevant. At least not as it applies to a starting lineup. Smoke usually equals fire, and there's obviously something going on in StL. I want no. Part of either of them for anything more than a bye week fill in type. .. depth on the roster

Treff, I am totally agreeing with your opinion of handcuffs; they are annoying, take up roster space and are generally just a crapshoot pain in the ass.

Chef, I think you're trying to talk yourself into that claim in the Barbarians league. ;)

I dont think he will be. There are three rbs on that squad and I personalty wouldn't touch them, that's just me. I think I heard they are not all that happy with Tre nor Stacy so not to contradict my first take but I wouldn't be completely shocked if he turned out to be productive, just for my money I am not throwing my hat in that ring!

Honestly.. my take is more about the Rams situation in general than it is about the split between the two backs. Maybe Shaun Hill still had some magic in that old felt hat he found. But he's 34, hasn't played in 2 years, hasn't started in 4.. and back then he had Calvin Johnson to throw to and was still in what most consider to be an athlete's prime. Now he has none of that, plus rust. . Then we add in the uncertainty at RB? No thanks, I'll pass.

I've been saying all summer that I think Stacy took advantage of circumstances last year when they really had no nobody in front of him. I wad down on Stacy when Mason was an unknown, then high on Stacy when Mason didn't look like much. Now that Cunningham is getting the coaches' attention, I'm down on Stacy again. Much like Stacy last year, Cunningham could easily become the lead back if he's really the best option. (But you gotta use two roster spots to ensure one starter there.)

And I don't think Fisher blows motivational smoke. He usually says what he means - people just have to be careful not to read too much into it (like when he said Richardson would be the Week 1 starter last year - the important part of that sentence was "Week 1"). Similarly "He's our running back" can create a false certainty - it doesn't mean anything more than "right now he's our running back." It's not the same as "he'll carry the load as long as he's healthy."

Wow, I think this pretty much nails it. Doesn't make me happy, but it pretty much nails it. :gaah:

I'm picking up Cunningham for the end of my bench in some leagues. I have a few rams fans as friends and they all think Benny is a better runner than Stacy. Stacy is really nothing special. He's not big, he's not explosive, he's not fast, he's really just a guy that does everything adequately. Benny is a little better, but he's nothing special either. Whoever the starter is, I think they will struggle.

Relevant yes, a threat to Stacy - probably not, although we'll have to see how the first few games go. ... I sure hope Stacy pans out, had a feeling about him at the beginning of the season - but the majority of my MBBRL brothers endorsed him as my 6th rd keeper - hope they were correct.

I think Cunningham is definitely worth owning, and Stacy probably not.

The reason is price. Stacy's pricetag where Lefty got him makes him a great value. If you have to spend a late 2nd or early 3rd rounder to acquire him, however, it is not worth it.

Regardless of how good Cunningham is, he has a chance to take the lead back role within the next couple weeks. If you can pick him up right now for nothing and have the roster space to do it, I don't see the downside. So, yes. I am buying Benny Cunningham.
