No way in hell. The Texas Rangers are hot garbage right now with the worst back end bullpen in the bigs and an offense that will routinely punch out a dozen times a game.

Unless they completely flip the script in the 2nd half, they will finish below .500.

It'll come down to the Twins, Royals, or Rays I think. I'll be rooting for the upstart Twins.

Looks good, but why would you pick Scherzer over Kershaw as the NL Cy Young winner at the halfway point?

Because Scherzer has better numbers.
How's that? You might what to check out their stats. Kershaw has a better won-loss record at 13-2 and his ERA is slightly above Scherzer. Kershaw ERA 2.19. Scherzer is 10-5 with an ERA of 1.94.

Better ERA, better WHIP, more strikeouts.

And despite Kershaw having one extra start, he only has 3.1 more innings pitched.

Don't get blinded with homer glasses.

I'm not trying to get blinded by homer glasses, but they are very close at this time and IMO won-loss record means quite a bit, when the rest of their stats are close. Will we see what happens in the 2nd half of the season.

Win-loss record doesn't mean much for pitchers, especially on a team as stacked as the Dodgers. Just a few weeks ago I watched Julio Teheran get credited for a win by going 5 innings and giving up 7 runs

Okay fair enough, but we are not talking about Julio Teheran. We are talking about pitchers that have ERA's of 1.94 and 2.19.

And a game that goes a whole lot deeper than ERA.

Scherzer pitches deeper into games, strikes out more batters, allows fewer base runners, gives up fewer runs, has allowed the fewest home runs of any qualified pitcher in the NL, but Clayton Kershaw has a better win-loss record, and that's all you really have.

And don't forget that the Nationals bullpen is arguably the worst in the lead and has blown numerous leads for Scherzer.

Okay fair enough, you made your pick at the half-way point and I respect that pick.

It's awards up to this point in the season.

Scherzer has had trouble with the Braves for some reason and he faces them in his next start I think, so Kershaw might pass him in a few of those categories, but up until this point, Scherzer has been the best pitcher in the NL.

Like I said, Kershaw's been mediocre this year. Way too many long balls given up.

Kershaw is still 13-2, with a 2.19 ERA. If that is mediocre in your eyes, then maybe you need some glasses.

Mediocre for his standards, yes. Best pitcher in baseball we're talking about. It speaks to how great he is.
