I wouldn't worry. The time is coming in the next few years to find a star to carry this team past the Iggy era, so the worst-case scenario can still work out better down the stretch. I hear good this about this year's draft class.

If Baertschi has a good camp I really don't think the Flames have much of a choice, but to play him. After Iginla, Tanguay & Bourque the Flames seem thin at wing. The Center position is even worse. I guess the one positive is a number of players are coming off sub par seasons. Maybe they'll all bounce back.

If he continues his strong play, he may get nine games before being sent back to Portland. I think he would have to really light it up for any chance of sticking with the big club, though. You never know, though, maybe he could be this year's Jeff Skinner.

/Did you know that Jeff Skinner is only 19 years old?

On a serious note dash the Flames forwards are kind of scary. I mean I thought Langkow was done. How much does Morrison have left in the tank? If Stajan can't beat out those two he might as well hang up his skates now.

David Moss 2nd line RW, really? Glencross, Kostopoulos & Jackman all on the team. How many grinders do the Flames need?

Well, I hate to say it, but this is probably a stop-gap year for the Flames as they have to pay the price for some contracts given out by Darryl Sutter. I don't see too many changes being made and it will have to be scoring by committee this season. The Tanguay - Morrison - Iginla line was looking really good prior to BMo getting hurt, which really hurt the Flames down the stretch last season. Of course, if JayBo would ever live up to that contract, that would help a lot as well.

Is Feaster any better than Sutter though? I know getting rid of Kotalik helps, but he also gave Buffalo Regehr & the Flames 2nd round pick in 2012 in the deal.

Are the players Calgary got from Buffaly any good?

Well, they are younger, which is a positive. Butler will get every chance to make the team and is probably be slotted in to be a 4-5 defenseman. As for Byron, we'll just have to wait and see, he's still a work in progress. I give Feaster credit for trying to land Brad Richards, unfortunately it's hard to compete with the bright lights and big city of New York.

If things don't go well this season will Kipper & Jaybo become trade bait at the deadline?

Tough to move that JayBo contract unless you take back a bad contract from another team. As far as Kipper is concerned, unless you have a goalie you feel could step in and play 50+ games, how do you trade him?

/Of course, if you make a trade for Cory Schneider, then Kipper is expendable...

How about Kipper to Detroit for Howard, Tatar & a pick?
