Kypreos is tweeting that New Jersey is no longer in the running for Gomez. He believes San Jose is the best bet for where Gomez will end up.

Gomez would be perfect for the 3rd line. Only question is, is he content playing in a 3rd line role, or is he trying to find some top 6 and PP time to earn his next contract? Get on it Doug, Handzus/Sheppard are not solutions to the 3rd line pivot.

I might get blasted for this but I love this move if it happens. In his prime, Gomez was a great playmaker, he can be a difference maker on the powerplay and at the very least he bolsters our bottom lines. Honestly, can our bottom six get any worse? Sign him up Dougie, it's a no brainer. I don't think Gomer's skills are diminished, I just think Montreal sucked the life and passion out of him, a change of scenery may do the trick.

Gomer is on the plane with the team heading to Calgary, although no contract yet, you have to think it's a done deal. I'm guessing he has his physical today and is on the ice by tonight.

They are already paying to fly the team so the fixed cost is already there. Just the variable cost of food and board and whatnot, not too expensive.

But I agree, with the time part of it. Neither side would waste the time unless there was some good mutual interest.
