Guys like Kinsler and Napoli certainly aren't perfect players themselves. But had we stuck with even just a select few of the guys we once had, I think you would be seeing far fewer individual games which make you say "fuck this team".

There's no way to know how things will turn out, though. I mean, if the Rangers had the rotation as it was intended by Daniels, we'd probably be saying "fuck this team" a little less. There are tons of examples of "if/then" scenarios to be bandied about. Ultimately, none of them have any value.

This is what I remember of the Napoli moving to the Red Sox. Is this fairly accurate?

If memory serves, his hip, plus his desire to actually participate on the defensive side, was the major reason he went to Boston.

We only had 1st available, since his hip would almost exclude him from the catching position. And we had decided to go younger/cheaper with Moreland there. So it was DH about 80% of the time with us, and he decided to move on.

Initial contract from Boston was a damn good one too.

True, but that's kind of what the boards are for- to throw around hypothetical and probable scenarios and wonder about the "what if's" and "if only's". There's only so much which can be said about the actual here and now. I think it's a fair assessment to say that the Rangers would be much better off had they kept even just one or two of that group of players. I'm not faulting us for not doing so because hindsight is 20/20 and each had special circumstances surrounding keeping them.

Fone. I'm just tired of all the 20/20 hindsight complaining.

Time to move on. Clean out the closet and go shopping to meet our needs.

Agreed.....And I have some recent experience on "needing to move on."

I agree with the points about Game 6, Hamilton, and Profar.

But you are wrong about Napoli. His last season in Texas he hit .228. After going to Boston, he didn't spiral downward. Over the last 2 seasons in Boston his Avg. is at .254 with 20 HR a year. He has been better in Boston than he was for Texas in 2012, and I'd take his .250 with 20 HR right now over Moreland in a heartbeat.

And I'm not sure how you could say having Kinsler would do nothing for us right now. The Odor/Rosales duo at 2B is useless. Kinsler is light years better than those two. Either it's Napoli/Kinsler or Rosales/Fielder. No contest.

Again, this is all hindsight. Nobody could have predicted it would all play out this way. Had Game 6 gone our way, like you said, things would probably be different.

I was looking at the fact that Napoli hit .320 with 30 HRs in 2011. Last year with Boston he hit .248 with 17 HRs and so far this year he is hitting a Ranger-like .167 with 2 HRs. But like I said Napoli had a chance to sign here and decided to wait for FA. So no matter what it is not Kinsler/Napoli but Kinsler/Moreland which is not any better to me than Odor/Fielder and I have followed Odor and really like the guy he is just having to learn the ropes at the MLB level instead of the minors. And at the time it was going to be Profar/Fielder. None of us saw that coming.

I know how you feel Will. I am as frustrated as any Ranger fan about the fact that we had such a good team in 2011 and we have lost so much. But much of it is explainable. And I try not to be a Wash basher but that team should have won the WS hands down.

May watch Josey Wales if things don't change.

LOL! The other night I had to change it and found "Big Trouble in Little China" was on. Kirk Russell, uh Jack Burton, cracks me up in that one.

We all know Odor had to be pulled up from AA because of Profar's injury with only 64 Texas League games split across 2013 and 2014. Rougned gets some quality time in AAA ... he's hopefully the long term option at 2b. Profar is a talent but he's a SS. Best thing that could happen for Elvis would be the possibility of losing his job.

When folks want the Rangers to sign guys like Napoli and Cruz when they are available then it is anything but hindsight to complain about them not being here. The hindsight argument simply doesn't hold up. That is the same thing those of us who used to complain about Wash always heard. When we sat there and said he should pull a pitcher or bring one in then it wasn't using hindsight to complain about those moves not working after the fact. In the same sense, wanting JD to make a move or sign someone and then complaining later about him not doing it later is not using hindsight. I used to hear the same cheap arguments against me saying we should have went harder after Abreu when I was very vocal months before he signed that we should go strong after him. I really get tired of those hindsight accusations when they are the furthest thing from the truth.

Hindsight or not it is a useless waste of energy that only leads one down the road to nowhere. The future is ahead of us and those guys are not likely a part of it.

GM Daniels expects better from Rangers | texasrangers.com

"We have tried to take a patient approach the first three or four weeks. We still believe in these guys, but there are guys down in Triple-A improving and being recommended, and guys getting ready to come off the disabled list that can help us. We're going to take a critical look at the group of guys up here and see who gives us a chance to win.

"There is a fine line between patience and inaction. This is a results-driven industry. We have to see results."

JD getting sick of this shit as well.

Looking just at OF and 1b combined some decisions to be made ...

A month from now ...
1b/DH -- Fielder, Blanks, Moreland
OF/DH -- Hamilton, Martin, Choo, Rua, Moreland

Problem i see is that only Blanks and Rua are RH bats. Not enough day to day spots. Does Rua replace Rosales as backup 3b and 2b when Elvis sits and Field plays SS with the assumption that Field replaces Odor after DeShields is DFA'd.
